ABOUT THE GLOBE

The aim of this internal newsletter is to act as a central communication tool for Goscor employees in order for us to obtain a better understanding of who we are as a company, what we do, and our underlying core values, morals, and standards.

It generally covers some internal aspects, but also focuses primarily on our products, services, client relationships, and opportunities. It is sent out electronically, and also appears on the Goscor website.www.goscor.co.za

GIRLS ON SITE!

In order to provide superior service to our internal customers, the Goscor marketing team spent the morning getting up close and personal with one of their most favourite machines in the Group. (Shhhhhh…. Some of us are biased here!)

The team spent the morning at Makro Riversands where they witnessed a range of Bendi, Crown and Doosan forklifts in action. Zeyn Alli, Regional Lift Trucks Sales Manager, together with Nicholas, maintenance manager at the store, gave the team a tour of this impressive store and showed firsthand how quality forklifts make their lives easier every day! This store has a total number of 34 forklifts and 2 Genies from us.

Marketing Invasion at MakroOUR PRINCE IN SHINING ARMOUR!

We would like to warmly welcome Prince Tsubane to the Goscor Marketing team. Prince takes on the exciting and challenging role of Graphic Designer/Web Developer for the Goscor Group.

Prince is a very dedicated, goal-driven, passionate, hard-working and talented individual with six years’ experience in the field. He brings great experience to the Group and is excited to learn and grow in his chosen career here. Prince is a loving husband and father who enjoys spending time with his family, and is not too bothered about

working with a bunch of ladies!

“Thank you for this great opportunity,” says Prince. “I am really looking forward to this new chapter and being part of the Goscor family.”

EDITORS NOTE

Brrr… Hey all you fabulous Goscorians,

As winter sweeps through our beautiful country and the rain has finally started to fall on the drought stricken Cape, we continue to rise above the challenges of this ever growing and ever changing business environment.

The first half of this year has been busy and although the market has been quieter than we would have liked, we are relentless in our marketing efforts to keep communicating, keep putting our brands out there and keep exposing us, at all times.

We are excited to introduce you to Bud Industrial Services. InServe will now operate under this name. Bud promotes energetic growth and promise within a transformed business environment where people, ideas and abilities have the freedom to operate. Over the next few months, we will be rolling this out in line with their corporate guidelines and look forward to

your support. Their tag line ‘Built to Grow’ says it all!

Our brands have been heavily exposed to a variety of markets through the various shows and events we have been involved with over the past few months, all over the country. Our Group Events Manager has certainly had her hands full and we thank her for her dedication.

There has also been some good collaboration between the various units and other units in the Bud Group, which is great to see.

Enjoy the rest of the year Goscorians, while reading about your Goscor!

FROM OUR CEO

Greetings Goscorians,We are already half-way through this challenging 2018!

When I page through our Goscor Globe, I am reminded of the wonderful work that is going on in our business every day. There are fantastic initiatives that, not only show the commitment of our staff to the business of Goscor, but also to our communities and to each other. This makes me incredibly proud to be a part of Goscor.

One of the initiatives that stands out for me in this last quarter, was the country-wide enterprise conducted by our forklift business, concentrating on our Goscor Values. Many departments, in a number of branches, built some amazing creations depicting our Group Values – please make sure you have a look at the article on page 5.

Each day we are faced with a challenging environment in our economy, in our business and in our private lives – I encourage you all to keep up your spirits, keep the passion and keep trying your absolute hardest! We will ride these difficult times and emerge stronger and better – that is for sure!

Good luck to you all for the second half of the year.

BUD NEWS

GOSCOR HITS THE GREEN

Our Goscor Cape Town teams sponsored the 5th hole at Afrits golf day. Held at the Arabella Golf Club, players were treated to snacks and refreshments at our hole, manned and branded by Goscor Access Solutions and Goscor Lift Truck Company. Well done to Hannelize and Samantha who manned the Goscor Lift Truck side, and Amber and Nicole, who represented the Goscor Access Solutions side.

MESSAGE FROM PETE

Hi GoscoriansWe trust that you’ve all settled into the year and are ready to tackle the second half of 2018.

Overall, the InServe Group has been operating as planned during this year with the exception of one particular area, which I will touch on a bit later. Hundreds of millions have been budgeted as capital expenditure for growth that will be shared across all businesses and there are some exciting projects on the way.

Goscor contributes a large part to this excitement with expansion in the Lift Truck, Compressor and Earthmoving fleets. Cleaning opened its new showroom which was impressive and I was delighted to be part of the event.

Unfortunately, our economy is not going to rebound overnight, however, with all of our new

equipment and systems in place, the only variable is the effort that our colleagues (Goscorians) put into their everyday responsibilities, be it administration, sales, services, marketing, buying or accounting. The opportunity for growth is here.

In tough economic times, debtors always become an issue, especially construction and contracting clients. This is a Group-wide issue, so please may I urge everybody to pay special attention to collecting our debts timeously, which is key to attaining our profit as well as cash flow objectives.

Our BBBEE scorecard is a big

drive at Goscor this year and I encourage you to live this every day. There is a continuous effort to better our scorecard and we can all make a difference in some way.

Lastly, but most importantly, my thanks must go to all of you who always make me feel so welcome when I visit any of the facilities; attend meetings or just call to ask a question. I can always feel the passion, commitment and gees. Well done and keep it up!

I wish you every success on a Goscor and personal level for the second half of the year.

Pete Peter Amm, InServe CEO

INSERVE REALIGNMENT TO BUD!

Exciting and progressive developments have been

happening at our holding company (IEP) recently. On the 2nd of July, IEP was renamed The Bud Group. Alongside this shift in architecture, InServe now operates under a new name, Bud Industrial Services. The name InServe will be phased out over the next few months and everything new will bear the Bud Industrial Services name.

The Goscor Marketing team enjoyed a briefing session at Investec offices where they were introduced to the new brand and the roll out plan. We look forward to introducing the rest of the Goscor Group to this exciting new brand.

NQF LEVEL 3 MANAGEMENT LEARNERSHIP OFF TO A GREAT START!

Doro-ella received accreditation with Services SETA in November 2017 for the National Certificate in Management NQF Level 3 and have rolled out the Learnership to 23 staff members within the Goscor Group.

During April & May we kicked off with Inductions in Jhb, Cape Town and Durban, where sessions were held with Managers and Employees explaining the process and what is going to be expected over the next 12 months. It’s going to be a lot of hard work, but with grit and determination our goal is to ensure that every employee enrolled is competent by the end!

A Quarterly Review Report

will be sent to Managers and other Stakeholders which will include employee progress and where we are against what has been planned.

“I must say, that I am so impressed with the commitment and dedication shown from all employees thus far, they have been engaging, sticking to deadlines and communicating continuously! As their Facilitator my focus is not only on their skills as Managers, but also to build their characters as future leaders," - Tracey from Doro-ella.

We welcome all our Learners to this exciting Learnership:

KNOWING YOUR VALUES

The Johannesburg Lift Truck Company service workshop technicians got together to learn our company values. The five teams constructed their individual plaques out of scrap materials found in and around the workshop, and came up with some amazing creations. Anthony (Senior Director -

Aftermarket), Lex (National Service Manager) and Riaan (Workshop Manager) judged the projects but were unable to choose one team as the overall winners, as they were all equal in terms of creativity, passion and professionalism. The entire team was announced as winners!

The camaraderie and team spirit that this project initiated has filtered through to the rest of the Johannesburg team, and has inspired other departments to do the same!

A challenge was set to the Group, to produce their own renditions of our values.

SYSTEMS TAKING US INTO THE FUTURE

Continuous improvement is key in providing systems and Business intelligence solutions that will improve productivity and efficiency in all the business units. One of the most recent projects the systems office has embarked on is the:

Autoline upgrade from version E27 to E31. This upgraded version of the system has built in controls and check points, which increases process and security checks. A new functionality that could benefit the business is also available.

The roll out of E31 took place on the week end of the 18th of May. Challenges experienced by users are addressed as soon as they are identified.

The second project that has been rolled out in the month of May is the N-print functionality. This software enables the systems office to

automate the distribution of Qlikview reports whereby

users do not have to extract or print

o p e r a t i o n a l reports but

receive t h e s e

reports via e-mail

a s P D F d o c u m e n t s .

This functionality is currently operational

in GLTC and will be rolled

out to all business units. The benefit of this is that the business uses the same data set and it saves users time to extract live, accurate data sets to base business decisions on. The users can spend their time resolving the operational issues rather than extracting and analysing the data sets.

Without continual growth and progress, such a word as improvement, achievement and success have no meaning.”

GOSCOR GROUP ASSISTS IN WESSA'S CLEAN-UP OF TREASURE BEACH IN KZN

GCE and Bobcat joined forces in KZN recently and were proud sponsors and partners to Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa’s (WESSA’s) Big Treasure Beach Clean-Up in KwaZulu-Natal. The event coincided with the UN World Environment Day and World Ocean Day.

The Deputy Mayor of Durban Ms. Fawzia Peer, opened the event and was extremely grateful to the sponsors for taking part in this initiative.

Over 1 300 people assisted with the beach clean-up over the week, while GCE and Bobcat used their specialised machinery to assist with the clean up. Over 1.5 t of waste material was

collected. Bobcat in particular supported this initiative by supplying a Bobcat T870 track loader with a skeleton bucket to assist with the collection of bulk waste such as logs, stumps, and other larger waste objects.

“The T870 model was selected for its superb traction in soft sand, due to it being a tracked machine, and also because it

has a very low ground footprint, hence a minimal impact on the beach and marine life,” Bobcat GM Brian Rachman explains.

GCE, on the other hand, supplied a litter remover f rom Green Machines. “This compact sweeper not only saves time thanks to its powerful battery, but is also easy to operate, and enhances h y g i e n e , safet y, and environmental awareness,” GCE GM Greg Venter comments.

This was an ideal opportunity in terms of the Group’s corporate social responsibility, and its commitment to environmental awareness to get involved. “The Goscor Group recognises that the pollution of South Africa’s beaches, and subsequent contamination of the oceans, is a serious issue that cannot be ignored. Therefore we felt it necessary to contribute to this important cause,” Marx comments.

The project is an integral part of WESSA’s role as a leader in implementing both the Sustainable Development Goals and Education for Sustainable Development initiative within the greater South Durban area.

GCE Branch Manager Wesley Bodmer remarks that his team was grateful to assist and participate in the general upkeep and cleanliness of the beach area. “Initiatives such as these are vital in keeping our beaches clean, and saving our

sea life. It also promotes the use of our beaches which, in turn, promotes tourism and stimulates the local economy,” he concludes.

BIGGEST DECK OUT ON RENTAL

The tallest machine in SA went out on rental for the first time in JHB after the launch in CT early last year. The request came in through reception, and the newbie Calvin Collins, Internal Sales, was quick to answer the phone which landed him his first big rental. The rental was from Air Conditioning & Ventilation in Lords View just up the road from GAS head office in Midrand. The machine was out for a full day and the customer was very pleased with the performance.

A SPARKLING NEW SHOWROOM

GCE officially opened its newly-revamped, state-of-the-art showroom at its head office in Edenvale, Johannesburg to provide added value to customers, distribution partners, and staff members. A key feature of the upgraded showroom is that the floor comprises various materials for the purposes of ‘live’ demonstrations on an array of surfaces. The upgrades commenced in December 2017, and were completed in March this year. The showroom has

also been equipped with audio-visual equipment for training purposes, and is also intended for use by customers. ‘We want customers to host their monthly sales meetings in our boardroom, after which GCE can provide their sales teams with comprehensive training sessions. "This is not limited to straightforward product training, but could also include how to clean floor surfaces correctly, discussions about the most suitable accessories

for machines, or providing other training required as requested by clients," Peter Esterhuizen highlighted.

The unveiling of the newly-revamped showroom coincided with the official South African launch of the Tennant T500e scrubber-dryer, which provides the highest performance on almost any hard-floor surface conditions. The T500e is an upgrade of the T5, featuring new scrub-head sizes, and available

in five different configurations. GM Greg Venter also used the opportunity to highlight Tennant’s products dedicated to reducing water consumption, a major ‘green’ trend in the cleaning industry at present. This includes its latest ec-H2O NanoClean technology, which electrically converts water into an innovative, detergent-free solution that cleans effectively, saves money, and reduces the environmental impact compared to daily floor-cleaning chemicals.

KEEPING GREECE CLEAN

The sales team set off to Mykonos in May to take a well-deserved break on the beautiful Greek island after their visit to Amsterdam. The team attended Interclean where they visited the Tennant and Kaivac stands. Thereafter they saw the Tennant

Factory and had an informative dinner with NCCA (National contract cleaning association).

The trip in Mykonos was a five day adventure. The highlight of the trip included a Catamaran boat trip where snorkelling and

swimming was at the forefront of the day. A spectacular dinner on the beach front at Saiparo Mykonos concluded their trip as they set off for home.

SUGAR REFINERY SPOTLESS THANKS TO DELFIN VACUUM SYSTEM FROM GCE

The plant refines and packs over 610 000 tons of sugar a year, in various packaging forms ranging from sachets to bulk sugar. The project commenced late in 2018 and took about four weeks to complete.

The Delfin system was supplied and installed through Maverick Industrial Cleaning Solutions. The project was led by Maverick Sales Director Duane Schwarz, who has more than 15 years’ experience in selling industrial cleaning equipment and is well-known

in the KwaZulu-Natal industrial cleaning equipment sector.

The system was required for housekeeping purposes for the pan house, which is the actual factory in which the raw sugar is refined, and hence where a specific fire-protection rating is necessary. The products that needed to be collected by the vacuum system include sugar, icing sugar, castor sugar and sugar dust, at an estimated total of 750 to 800 kg per hour of material. This was achieved

with four operators working simultaneously.

Tongaat Hulett Corporate Security Manager and Refinery Health, Safety, Environment and Security Manager Grant Cockburn explains that the vacuum system was selected due to Delfin’s reputation and track record as a leading manufacturer of industrial vacuum cleaners. The reliability and durability of the Delfin system, as well as its compliance with the specifications and performance requirements of this particular

project along with the trusted product support and expertise provided by Goscor and Maverick, made it the best-suited option.

INTERCLEAN 2018

Held from 15 to 18 May in Amsterdam, Interclean is billed as the largest global professional cleaning exhibition. It brings together leading manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, and end users to showcase the latest technologies and trends in the industrial cleaning sector. The GCE sales team were treated to a trip to experience this first hand. Here they were able to come face to face with many of GCE’s key principals such as Ghibli, Elgin, Maer, Delfin, Green Machines, and Tennant.

“This gave us an invaluable opportunity to catch up with them. Not only were we able to discuss new technologies that we may want to add to our own product range, but we also focused on the importance of the aftermarket support that GCE leverages in South Africa and beyond,” Jolly comments.

On the 1st of June 2018, GCE sponsored a hole at the annual Goscor Group Charity Golf Challenge held at Durbanville Country Club. The theme was Winter Wonderland and players could take part in a game of beerpong which would enter

them into a lucky draw to win a MAER Compact pressure washer. The Cleaning ladies won a prize for most raised funds on the hole and Peter Gilmer was the lucky winner of the pressure washer.

QUARTERLY COFFEE CHAT

On this morning, our leader Greg Venter brought together all staff as he does, once a quarter, in our most awesome new and sparkling showroom, to discuss important issues with the entire JHB team and highlight the focus

areas for the coming quarter. Good muffins and coffee were up for grabs. The award for employee of the month went to Edwin Phadu, Trainer – proof that hard work does pay off in the long run, well done Eddie!

BRIAN'S BIRTHDAY

Brian Rachman, Branch Manager, KZN recently celebrated his birthday Bobcat style. With his very own Bobcat birthday cake, its easy to see what this man's passion is! Brian, we hope the day was amazing – and we are sure the cake tasted as great!

MEAN ATTACHMENTS MAKE LIFE SIMPLER

Our extensive range of over 100 attachments certainly makes life simpler!

These Bobcat genuine attachments are precision-built for maximum quality and effectiveness.

Our focus recently has been to promote the planer attachments which are strong enough to cut through concrete and milling asphalt, providing for optimum manoeuvrability at significantly lower costs than other dedicated planers on the market.

Pallet- fork at tachments provide for the quick and easy transportation of bulky, bagged, or palletised material. The adjustable forks can load and unload, lift and carry, and move

and place materials around a variety of jobsites.

Every Bobcat genuine attachment comes standard with a one-year extended warranty, and the best service and support in the industry. Bobcat has been serving satisfied customers for more than 50 years and certainly understand exactly what is needed to get the job done right. Put us to the test!

ANIMAL-FEED PRODUCER STOCKS UP WITH SKIDSTEER LOADERS

De Heus is an international company that produces and markets high-quality animal feeds. Various skid steers were delivered from Bobcat branches in each of the respective provinces. Bobcat KZN Branch Manager, Brian Rachman explains that the SSLs are used at De Heus’ facilities to load animal feed into warehouses.

“They are ideal for this applicat ion, as their compactness enables them to operate effectively within restricted areas, in addition to high fuel efficiency,” Rachman

points out. Bobcat is the market leader in SSLs, ably supported by its large national footprint.

Bobcat was required to customise the SSLs for De Heus with high-volume, lightweight buckets that were 800 mm long and with a capacity of 800 ℓ. Pre-cleaners were also fitted to ensure a longer life for the air filters due to the dusty conditions in which the SSLs operate. The large, lightweight buckets allow the SSLs to collect as much bulk material as possible, in this case animal feed.

This is the first time that Bobcat has collaborated with De Heus. “We are very proud to have won this particular contract. It showcases how we can provide the highest quality, lowest total cost of ownership for our customers,” Rachman highlights. The contract also saw sister company Goscor Lift Trucks supply six Doosan forklifts across De Heus’ main three branches for use in its respective facilities.

The compactness of the S550 enables it to operate effectively

within restricted areas.

Bobcat delivered five S550 skidsteer loaders to De Heus

Animal Nutrition.

Bobcat customised the S550s for De Heus with high-volume,

lightweight buckets.

A FIRST FOR BOBCAT ON SA TV

We recently interviewed customer Pieter Swanepoel from Lichtenburg on Kyknet’s Grootplaas TV channel about Bobcat’s TLB 730 specifically for the agricultural market. The TLB was used to dig a trench for a pipeline to ensure water is easily available throughout the farm. Pieter emphasised that since they had the B730 on their farm more work and less downtime was realised.

The recording was aired on a Thursday which counted an average of 11 540 viewers. Grootplaas pulls the LSM of 8-10 profile with nationwide coverage. The video is also available on our Bobcat website and YouTube channels for ongoing viewing.

MESSAGE FROM THE TOP

As I pen this note, I can’t believe that we are already midway through 2018. It feels like yesterday when we had the change in Presidency, which ushered in an improved political and economic outlook for 2018.

So how has this turned out for us at Lift Trucks? Despite the positive sentiment, the first trading quarter was, too say it in the nicest conceivable way, less than outstanding. Despite the disappointing National results, our two major coastal branches – KZN and Western Cape – did very well during this period, despite a tumultuous market.

While most businesses are in panic mode, it’s not the case for us at GLTC! In true Goscor fashion, we have, together as a team, soldiered on, and survived the storm, with failure never being an option. For this, we cannot thank you enough! It is this type of dedication demonstrated by all of you that sets us apart from the competition.

Although we haven't turned the corner, and as I write this the half year results aren’t yet finalised, but I can assure you that we are well on our way to recovery and, by the time you read this, we

would hopefully have enjoyed a record breaking order intake for June. Customer retention is in line with expectations; new customer acquisition is at an all-time high.

But what does the future hold? The economic outlook remains sluggish! We should, however, remain resilient as usual. Our strategic direction and objectives have been tested and, when implemented and managed, have proven to be effective. Most importantly, we have not allowed external forces and economic challenges to deter us. As a result of your

unwavering determination and teamwork in pursuit of one common goal, we have emerged even stronger than before.

Together we can, and we shall!

Patrick Barber, GLTC Sales Director

SETTING THE BAR HIGH

Quality and Health & Safety have always been top priorities at GLTC. The recent successful upgrade from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001: 2015 and the OHSAS 18001 accreditation, setting us as the first forklift supplier to attain both accreditations in South Africa, is testimony to

the relentless focus on setting the bar high as far as quality is concerned, with no compromise to health & safety.

Our management, employees and subcontractors are ceaselessly improving and sharpening the company’s

methods and processes to reach an even higher level of quality and excellence.

We are devoted to the highest standards concerning health and safety issues, following the international standard of OHSAS 18001. Health and Safety are an integral part of the general management of our company

that allows us to continuously improve working conditions, fostering better productivity and therefore high-levels of quality.

With the support of our well-trained employees and subcontractors we manage risks proactively by implementing preventive measures to ensure safe operations.

Our team committed to the highest standards concerning health and safety issues

BACK TO BASICS

Getting back to basics does not mean throwing the baby out with the bath water, it just means while we integrate new methods into sales, we need to make sure we are still doing the necessary ‘basics’ to keep the sales momentum going.

Our sales team was urged to continue with the fundamental

basics that still give a real return and integrate, where appropriate, sales push and pull strategies.

Held at Khaya iBhubesi, situated on the banks of the Vaal River, on the outskirts of Parys, the team enjoyed several team building activities after the conference, which included water rafting,

building reading benches and rocking horses, and letting their hair down (so to speak).

We envisage a strong and successful team going forward. This was evident in the many awards handed out at the conference, reiterating that with the right people anything is possible!

COMMITTED TO HELPING SPAR GROUP OPTIMISE OPERATIONS

GLTC’s relationship with the Spar Group, one of the largest retailers across southern Africa, dates as far back as some 20 years ago.

Awarded the Spar Group’s coveted Logistics Supplier of the Year in 2016, GLTC

recently raised the stakes at the Spar Inland Trade Show held at Emperors Palace on 18-19 April with a display of a range of innovative lifting solutions aimed at optimising the retail group’s operations across i ts countr ywide distribution centres.

The bi-annual trade show, which aims to showcase Spar’s preferred suppliers, is a well-attended event that sees hundreds of trade representatives sampling new products and acquiring information on new services. GLTC presented selected products that were relevant to the retailers. The stand

was further enhanced by a live caricature ar tist, cartoonist Gary Bottger who, during the course of the two

days, created a huge hype around the stand with his live caricature drawings of our visitors.

GLTC SPONSORING INDUSTRY

Relationships with the industries that we deal with are of significant value to us at GLTC. We have recently reaffirmed our commitment to the fishing and supply chain industries through supporting their respective flagship events this year.

We go fishing at Umhlanga Ski Boat Festival

GLTC was the main sponsor at this year’s prestigious Umhlanga Ski Boat Festival which took place 16-17 June.

GLTC showcased its passion by being the main sponsor of the grand fishing festival. Hosted by the Umhlanga Ski Club, the festival holds an important place in the fishing community’s hearts. Having stopped running for the past 12 years, GLTC’s sponsorship has gone a long way in helping with the relaunch of the festival this year. It is a flagship festival that originates way back from the 1990s, and attracts fisherman from the whole KwaZulu-Natal coast line.

This year’s show featured boats, paddle skis and a jetski fishing competition. The event was a huge success, with several orders already in the pipeline.

GLTC gives SAPICS 2018 a lift

The SAPICS Conference is a leading event in Africa for supply chain professionals and the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The conference showcases the latest developments, newest technologies and innovative ideas relating to supply chain management. The heart of the conference is to tackle core business issues, all the way from increasing revenues, decreasing

costs to keeping customers happy – all of which are integral to GLTC’s own business goals.

GLTC was the Bronze Sponsor of SAPICS 2018 held at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town from 10-13 June, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of the organisation.

GLTC also sponsored a caricature artist Gary Carvalho, who had delegates queuing to get their caricatures drawn in between Supply chain management talks and seminars.

BRAKES FOR LIFE AT NAMPO

Africa’s biggest agricultural show, Nampo Oesdag - Harvest Day, took place 15-18 May 2018 in Bothaville. We showed farmers from far and wide the renowned Doosan ‘brakes for life’ system at this year’s event. The ‘brakes for life’ system, which made world headlines when it was introduced some years ago – and still one of the most important selling features

on Doosan forklifts – is an oil-cooled disc brake system (OCB).

On show were two Doosan forklifts, the D35C-5 forklift and a refurbished Doosan D25S-5 which generated a lot of interest. The drawcard, however, was visitors having a chance to meet Toks Van Der Linde – ex Springbok Rugby player and Toks n Tjops show host.

Ever wondered what it would be like to be in Sales?

From Storeman to External Sales, Ephraim Bafana Dludla, believes that as a Salesperson at GRC he realises how important attitude is in making it happen!

Ephraim started his career working as a Storeman. Thereafter, he worked as an Adhoc abuse administrator / buyer for Goscor Rental Company for another year, before he saw an opportunity in Internal Sales for rentals, where he worked for 2 years. Since March 2018 he has been selling the refurbished equipment for the Goscor Rental Company and is thoroughly loving it!

“ I t ’s been awesome communicating or conversing with customers not just on the phone but directly face to face and helping them with their business needs. Seeing how impressed they are by our business solutions is what drives me,” says Ephraim.

The GRC team enjoyed an afternoon in the sun at their annual team building session held in May.

With only a “Minute to Win It” the teams took the activities very seriously to try and outwit one another. All the teams showed their commitment

- proving that together they can accomplish anything.

GOSCOR POWER PRODUCTS

GOSCOR GLOBE - Issue 2: 2018

FULL DEALERSHIP IN EASTERN CAPE

We are proud to announce our newly appointed Platinum Dealer for the Eastern Cape area, Industrial Welding Supplies (IWS) who supply welding equipment.

“We were battling to find a decent dealer in the area”, says

Mark Bester, GPP GM. "I was driving past, took a chance and stopped. Our meeting lasted for 4 hours and we have now appointed them. They will be exclusive to GPP.”

IWS have put in a massive stock order. They have embarked

o n a n advertising c amp aig n and will also be selling to a sub-dealer in the area. W e l c o m e IWS!

WORKING TOGETHER

David Bester, internal sales at GPP recently attended Uni-Span’s monthly sales meeting, setup by Debby Marx. Here he presented the Goscor Power Products offerings to Neil Badenhorst (Uni-Span Sales Manager) and his team. The GPP products are an excellent add-on to the compliment the Uni-Span offerings. Majority of Uni-Span’s customers are construction

companies, and Power Products core products sell to this market, so it makes a perfect fit!

“In about 2 months, we have already done about R450k of business with Uni-Span’s customers, mostly thanks to Morne Raath,” says David.

INTERCOMPANY CROSS SELLING

Goscor Power Products supplied a silent Diesel 90 kva Generator to Bobcat, who in turn is renting it to Uni-Span on a long-term rental.

This is a brilliant example of intercompany cross selling and hiring. Thanks to Vanessa at Bobcat and Teresa at Goscor Power

Products for making this happen!

RATO GENERATES A SMILE

Cornelia Niemand is a business owner of a food truck named Didi’s Pizza Truckee. They were experiencing major electricity problems at the various markets and food venues and decided to invest in a generator.

The RATO R87501D Generator is a powerful 7.8KVA unit that runs the following equipment without any hick ups, cut-outs or hitches:

• Microwave oven - 1 050 watts• Warming/display unit - 1

200 watts

• Soft serve machine - 1 800 watts

• Beverage fridge - 175 watts• Freezer - 140 watts• LED lights - 3 x 18 watts each

One person can easily move the generator as it has wheels and an adjustable handle. We top it up with petrol after 5 hours of consistent use.

“ While all generators have a noise factor,

we have found that placing the generator only about 20 steps from the food truck, still allows us to engage and chat to our customers at a comfortable speaking level. I am very pleased with the machine and look forward to working with Goscor.”

NAMPO FEEDBACK

In May we attended Nampo 2018 with other Goscor Group Companies. The Expo was a great opportunity for us to showcase our two quality brands Sullair and Ozen Compressors and interact with a new market and meet potential clients face to face.

Building the GCAS brand is top priority for us and this was one avenue we will definitely explore again. Our next event will be at Electra Mining! Watch this space.

WELCOME WARREN!

We welcome Warren Schultz on board as the new GM for Goscor Compressed Air Solutions. We asked him a few questions to get to know him. Here’s what he has to say:

Who is Warren Schultz?

I originally started my career in the legal industry and from

there moved over to the very competitive steel industry. Over the years I have managed various business units in South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia. I have a wife and a 6 month old son and have recently re-located back to Alberton. Great to be back with good family and friends.

Where did you grow up and attended school?

I attended Hoërskool Jeugland in Kempton Park – Gauteng - where I also grew up and spent all of my childhood.

When did you start working for Bobcat/Goscor?

I started working for Bobcat Equipment Cape Town in July 2017 as Branch Manager. I am very excited about this new role within the group and grateful for the opportunity I have been provided with to lead a great team of individuals.

What makes you want to get up in the morning?

There are a number of things that gets me up in the morning, with my wife and my son probably being the biggest motivators in my life. Another, is the chance to add value to a business and people in a tangible way by working on something, then seeing the results and impact it has on various people, the business and myself.

What is your management style?

I have a collaborative and coaching management style. I believe staff with a good positive attitude working together as a team - with hard work being rewarded - the driving force of any business. I like being hands-on and getting things done in an efficient manner while empowering staff through participation, guidance and motivation.

What would you like to achieve at GCAS as the new GM?

A significant amount of work has already been done by the staff at GCAS over the years and we were not crowned business unit of the year in 2017 for nothing! We already offer world class solutions to customers and my core focus would be to take this solid foundation that has been built and ensure we have a sustainable business with solid growth within our current and other markets. Watch this space!

One thing you want us to know about you?

In matric I was a member of our school choir which placed second in the Annual National Eisteddfod which I got honorary colours for. I thought I could sing pretty well until just before the grand finale our teacher told me to just mouth the words and pretend like I was singing…Warren Schultz, GM

associate, who only uses SANY machines, were impressed: “We are very happy with reliability and lower running costs. The service received from SANY is exceptional. I have personally observed their machines working on my site they were truly impressive.”

“With steady inroads to contract projects and mining, there has been a keen interest in the product. We are currently busy negotiating a five unit

replacement deal with one of our current customers which bears testament to this,” Raw says that this machine represents the unique selling point of SANY. “It has optimal fuel economy, offers the customer lower cost of ownership, is fitted with an American Cummins 104 kW engine and has a Kawasaki hydraulic pump.” SANY’s main differentiator is its highly competitive pricing for a world-class product which is complemented by a increasing improvement of parts-holding and full in-field service and technical back-up.

VEEPLAAS COVERAGE

In April the GEM team set off to Malelane to video the SY215 in action. GM Andre Steenkamp and farmer Craig Starker had a conversation about this machine and how it would benefit the agricultural market of South Africa. At this specific application the excavator was removing mango and the viewers of Kyknet could clearly see the benefits of having such a machine on hand.

A FIRST IN AFRICA!

According to SANY, the new 750 t excavator will be the first of its kind in Africa. The excavator, primarily designed as a loading tool, is specially designed for mine construction applications. With high efficiency, low fuel consumption, strong power and high strength, they are the “optimum machines” for the mine exploration, says Goscor Earthmoving Equipment GM Andre Steenkamp.

Compared to former generations, the model improves the efficiency by 8%-10% and saves fuel consumption by 10%, says SANY. The strengthened working devices and wear-resistant bucket enhance 10%

of the digging force, making the machines reliable enough to handle the mining work. The design also enhances the machines' stability and durability, extending their service life by 50%. In addition, the new product can be equipped with versatile parts and attachments, such as extension jib, breaker, cutter and ripper, for different uses.

“This machine has enough horse power to get the job done quietly, efficiently and, most importantly, without breaking the bank, as it is a very affordable large excavator. The SY750 will definitely carve, or rather, dig, itself into the market with its reliable power source, as

well as impeccable back up from GEM,” Steenkamp enthuses.

GEM has clinched its first sale of a SY750 excavator to a local major coal-mining company, and is confident that the new range will soon gain significant traction in the local mining, construction, and road-building industries.

Meanwhile, the company also distributes the excavator to neighbouring countries – one was sold to and is being deployed at a copper mine in Kanshansi, Zambia. “The client ordered four units as a trial and now they have ordered another 6 units, which will be delivered in the following weeks,” adds Steenkamp.

R15M WORTH OF SANY EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED FOR COAL-MINE REHABILITATION

Two SY956H front-end loaders, a SMG200 Grader, a SY500H excavator, and a SY335 excavator have been delivered to Ukubhukuda Trading, whose subsidiaries Tipper & Co and E&J Construction have been contracted to carry out the rehabilitation of the mining area.

GEM eMalahleni Sales Executive Lee Sampson comments that the initial

relationship with Ukubhukuda Trading was forged in March 2017, when it purchased a SYL956H1 front-end loader and a SY335 excavator. The latter is ideal for mining applications due to the use of high-quality wear-resistant plate for added endurance and reliability. With a maximum digging depth of 6 170 mm, and a transport length of 11.1 m, the SY335 excavator is ideal

for the mining, construction, and plant-hire sectors.

With a bucket capacity of 2.7 m3 to 3.2 m3 standard and a 4.5 m3 coal bucket, the SYL956H1 front-end loader is ideal for heavy-duty mining operations. The machine’s highly-efficient drive system features a rotary automatic gearbox that boosts travel speed by 10%, and increases towing force by over 6%. The rated load

is 5 000 kg, the rated power is 162 kW, and the maximum lifting force is 172 kN.

“As soon as Ukubhukuda Trading commenced with rehabilitation work at Arnot, they purchased an extra two machines, and we are in the process of delivering a further three SYL956H1 front-end loaders,” Sampson reveals.

In addition, E&J Construction purchased a SY500H excavator and an additional SYL956H1 front-end loader in May. The former is a Tier 4, 50.5 t excavator with a rated engine power of 298 kW at 2 100 rpm, a bucket capacity of 3.1 m3. “We are currently finalising two more deals with E&J Sampson adds.

GEM has reconfigured the buckets on the SYL956H1 to increase the size range from 3.2 m3 to 4.5 m3 to boost productivity and turnaround time for its mining clients in particular. All the machines supplied by GEM have standard 250-hour service plans.

NAMPO FEEDBACK GEM

Andre Steenkamp commented after Nampo that the farming community has battled severe droughts in various parts of the country and the water shortage is going to increase due to changing weather patterns as well as water being syphoned off by mining activities in sensitive eco systems. 90% of farms are operated on future capital. If there is no equity in the land how will current or prospective farmers farm? The products GEM showcased were all machines that can assist with relieving drought or flood effects. The farmer can use the excavator to build dams and also to contour new fields that are prepared for new crops. These machines can assist

the farmer as they are well priced and maintenance is very affordable in today’s terms. The equipment is reliable and also very economical.

It was also noted that Toks van der Linde definitely drew more feet than what would normally be missed. This meant that the overall exposure increased as these “new” visitors might be converted to clients as quite a few of them did not know the group and what products we represent. The sales personnel reported that they felt the people who visited the stand provided far more quality enquiries compared to last year. Therefore quality over quantity was experienced overall. SIGNAGE AND BRANDING

SHUMANI FINANCIAL YEAR-END STAFF BRAAI!!

With all the internal changes and a financial year-end at hand, a staff braai was a perfect way to unwind and take a breather even if it was for a day. The braai also served as a way for the 34 staff compliment to meet face to face as most of the service technicians are based on site and only get to communicate with the office staff via emails and phones.

The braai commenced with Victor thanking everyone for their hard work and dedication in previous financial year and with him encouraging them to do well for the next year.

Later on the braai was made more special by a surprise visit from Neil Wilson, Goscor, CEO and special guests from Imperial.

UP WE GO IN UPINGTON

In an attempt to further grow our brand in Upington, we secured a stand at the well-attended annual Upington Landbou Expo, held from 31 May - 02 June at the Upington Show Grounds.

Over 100 exhibitors also grabbed the opportunity to expose their brands to the

lucrative Upington agricultural community. Some good contacts were made. The show was well attended by over 11,000 visitors. We further supported our brand by advertising on the local radio before and during the show, exposing our brand even further to more than 89,000 listeners.

MAIN SPONSOR AT MYN MANNE

The Myn Manne Marine Association had its humble beginnings back in 1977 with its first gathering at Sodwana

Bay. It was organized by a few avid anglers from Matla Mine and the total number of boats competing were a mere three.

The competition has taken leaps and bounds since then and we have witnessed record numbers in the last few years, with entries exceeding 80 boats and 600 anglers. Myn Manne is well known in the SA community for being one of the biggest and toughest angling competitions of the year.

Since Myn Manne is essentially a competition for employees and contractors of mines, most of the sponsors are from the mining

industry, a huge target market for Bobcat and Sany, hence their participation as the main sponsor of the Weighing Station. It proved to be an excellent learning curve for the team.

MEAN MUSCLE POWER SHOWN AT NAMPO

The Goscor Group showed off its machine muscle power at NAMPO this year. This show attracts the crème del la crème of the decision makers in the Agricultural community each year.

The annual four-day event attracted around 75 000 visitors and almost 700 companies flocked to show off their products. The Goscor Group promoted their various equipment on a very well

planned and attractive stand. Our sister company Prowalco also joined us on the stand. Great show specials enhanced their selling power and lead records show good promise

of orders to come while some business units sold a variety of equipment at the show.

Visitors flocked onto the stand to take a picture with our draw

card, Toks Van Der Linde, former Springbok and show host of Toks n Tjops and their favourite Goscor machine. Overall a good show for Goscor and our partners.

A HIT AT SPAR SHOW

The Spar Inland Trade Show, a bi-annual tradeshow, proved to be the perfect platform to showcase our products to Spar’s preferred suppliers. Held at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg, the show was extremely well attended and brought together hundreds of Spar owners and trade representatives sampling new products and acquiring information on new services.

GLTC and GCE joined forces and showcased their materials handling and cleaning equipment. A cartoonist was sponsored as a draw card to attract visitors to the stand. This worked wonders.

“I had the fantastic opportunity of meeting different branch owners of Spars across the

inland region of SA,” says Dan van der Vaart from GLTC. “The Goscor marketing team ensured our stand was professional and appealing, with the fantastic idea of hiring a cartoonist, who became the biggest hit of the Spar Trade Show. This idea assisted in having people linger around our stand and products a little longer than normal, and therefore, helping us “break the ice” with the potential customers. We were able to gain huge interest from over 40 different Spar branches, with majority of the individuals not being aware that GLTC is primary supplier to all Spar DC’s.”

“A great retailer show for GCE,” says Janet Troskie from Goscor Cleaning Equipment. “it proved to be an excellent way

to reinforce our brands in the market not only with the Spar group but also with the suppliers who attended the show. On the cross-border side, we got

a couple of good leads as well. We ordinarily would not get to see these clients - especially in countries where we have no representation.”

IT’S ALL DOWNHILL – ASIJIKI – NO TURNING BACK

Endurance, determination and perseverance are just some of the attributes one needs to have when participating in what is known as the “ Ultimate Human Race”, the Comrades Marathon.

The Comrades marathon started in 1921, 24 May 1921 was when the first race took place. This race is run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, (vice versa), which is approximately 89 -90 km. The race was first started by Vic Clapham, a World War 1 Veteran in memory of the lives lost during the war.

This race does not only require physical fitness but also mental determination, with months of training and with much bravery some of our very own Goscorians have participated

in this gruelling race.

Hearty congratulations to Victor Nemukula, Arina van Der Westhuizen and her husband Vian van der Westhuizen for participating in this event, you are an inspiration and you have made Goscor proud!

In the background, Justin Wright and Kimmy Wright under the HAMNET wing provided emergency communications to The Comrades organization, using radio communications to contact the relevant personnel, such as paramedics & bailer buses, when required.

Many lessons can be learnt from the Comrade runners, the one that stands out is to never give up, always follow your dreams

and keep on running, for there are many runners that failed in the past that came back to complete the race. In the spirit of the Comrades Marathon – Asijiki – No turning back!

GOSCOR KIDDIES

SPECIAL MOMENTS

A SPECIAL PLACE ON OUR DOORSTEP

Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in early childhood. It is the most common condition in a related constellation of disorders known as autism spectrum disorders, also called ASDs. There is no cure for autism, but early intervention using skills-training and behaviour modification can yield excellent results.

Our very own Gregory Cuthbert (Workshop Technician at GLTC JHB) has openly shared his daughter’s incredible journey with us. Michaela, at only 12 years of age, was born with autism. Like most parents who have a special needs child, Gregory has struggled to find a suitable facility for his daughter where she can thrive and enable her to attend

school as normally as possible.

From the time that Michaela has attended Special Moments Day Care, in Kempton Park, Gregory has praised her progress and development. The development has been remarkable to say the least.

The daycare facility focuses on children with autism, down syndrome, ADHD, cerebral palsy, blindness and other related learning disabilities. They help teach children who aren't able to go to regular school with regular curriculum. In addition, they provide education in form of social, cognitive, emotional, and physical development, as well as occupational therapy and basic speech therapy.

Special Moments Daycare is in need of a sponsorship in order to build up the facility. They are always looking for sponsors of any kind – the smallest amount or item will

make the biggest difference to our children with disabilities. For more information please contact the Principal Sarika on 084 773 2425 or visit www.specialmomentsdaycare.co.za
