BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS FRAMEWORKHow we do our jobs is at least as important as what we do – and we know that organisations with a positive culture and good behaviours perform better. We have developed a Finance Staff Behavioural Skills Framework which outlines the behavioural skills you need to develop to carry out your role in the best way possible.

FOUR STRENGTHS FOR NHS FINANCE Covers the four key attributes needed so we can each play our part in delivering a modern, patient-centred NHS. The framework has been created to be simple, memorable and time-saving – a useful tool for you to use during appraisals and PDPs and to develop the right attributes among your team.

SPONSORSHIP Evidence suggests that career progression is often facilitated in part by the informal networks people develop but that these networks can unintentionally be much more difficult to access by some. As part of our commitment to valuing diversity, the sponsorship programme aims to address this inequality by providing a suitable way for you to widen your professional networks if you feel that this is something that has been difficult for you in the past.

FINANCE LEADERS NETWORKs The regional networks have been established to provide development programmes and networking opportunities for those working at band 8B and above across the North, South, Midlands & East and London.

ROLE MODEL BANK An informal library of positive role models that aims to encourage finance professionals from all under-represented groups.

VALUE MAKER NETWORKThe Value Maker role was introduced to create a network of passionate individuals across the NHS who champion and spread the work and messages of FFF. Members of this established network connect using a wide range of forum, sharing best practice, resources, ideas and working on many of the projects within FFF.

NATIONAL FINANCE TALENT POOLWe have recognised that there is a need to create tailored programmes to develop those who aspire to working at director level in NHS finance. If this is your next career step then the National Finance Talent Pool can support you in achieving your ambition.

Future-Focused Finance is a national programme designed to engage everyone in improving NHS Finance to support the delivery of quality services for patients. We want to bring finance staff at all levels of the profession together with the teams we work with in our own organisations and make sure that everyone has access to skills, knowledge, methods and opportunities to influence the decisions affecting our services. We believe by working together in this way we can harness our diverse and talented NHS workforce to produce high quality services and reduce waste in NHS spending.

The programme consists of national and regional events, networks, resources and talent development programmes – all designed to advance the understanding of finance in the NHS. Underpinning all of our work are commitments to value the diversity within NHS finance teams and to challenge behaviours that contribute to inequality in access to development and opportunities for some.
