    RFL EDITORIAL

Last weeks round of matches added further confusion to the final make up of the final five. The one thing for sure is that Wagga Tigers, GGGM, Narrandera and Coolamon will contest this years finals series. The last position is up for grabs between the Eastern Hawks, MCU-E and Griffith. Turvey Park certainly are playing better footy at present and their 7 point win over the Eastern Hawks has sparked even more interest into the competition, even at this late stage. Wagga ngers were untroubled in their 158 point demolition of the Leeton-Whitton Crows at Leeton Showground. The Griffith Swans kept alive their s im chances of playing finals footy after disposing of MCU-E by a massive 99 points. GGGM had to withstand a gallant Codamon outfit but ran out winners by 47 points at final siren time. The Narrandera side had the bye.

Robertson Oval is the venue for the all important match between the Wagga Tigers and the Eastern Hawks. The Hawks done themselves no favours what so ever last week and, depending upon results, it could have ended their season. Inconsistency has cost them dearly this year and if they are to miss out on finals that will be the reason. How can a side defeat the Lions one week and lose to Turvey Park the next week? One has to question their commitment and dedication. Joel Grieve, Mitch Reberger, Glenn Cole and Rhys Grieve were the pick last week. The ngers continue to go about their business in a very professional manner and they are right on target for a top of the table finish. As I have said before they have a very good mix of youth and experience and that is working very well at present. They are very well coached by Matt Walder and with Nathan McDonald, Andrew Priest, James Millikan and Matt Noonan performing well they are a formidable side. Tigers to win this one comfortably.

Another match of vital importance is at Possum Park, Mangoplah, where the home side takes on the Leeton-Whitton Crows. The Goannas were humbled last week at Griffith and things didn't go as planned on the day. They were behind the eight ball all game and were never in it. They must get off lo a good start and put the pressure right back on their opposition. If they can do this they will be heading towards victory and a possible finals berth. Geoff Spriggs, Sam Balding, Mitch Heydon and Adam Howard tried to stem the tide last week. The Crows have three rounds left to try and salvage a win for the year and this would appear as possibly their best chance. They certainly have struggled this year with injuries and player losses and to

come from playing off in grand final to the wooden spoon is hard to take. Still that is how things go and they must approach the last three matches in a positive manner. Brad Boots, Nick Patten, Ben Dryburgh and Brad Waters have been real triers all year. After a battle I think that the Goannas will prevail come final siren time.

Narrandera Sportsground is the venue for another important dash between the Narrandera Eagles and the Griffith Swans. The Eagles are coming off the bye so they will be very eager to get onto the paddock in preparation for a big three weeks of footy before finals time. If they win all three games they are a chance of finishing on top of the ladder. The past month has been OK without going over the top but they must start upping the anti in preparation for the finals in a month. The efforts of Peter Heath, Dean Hopwood, Dale Hugo and Stuart Hutchins will be vital up against a fired up Griffith outfit. The Swans see this game as do or die as a win would keep their hopes alive - a loss and they will rely on other results to get them there. They obviously played a lot better last week and wonders where they could have finished up if they had played like that all year. If they can take their last quarter form into this match they are in with a real show. Malt McDonald, Jeff Mickan, Mick Duncan and Craig Conlan continue to impress. I' tipping the Eagles to win this one by 20 points.

The last game for decision is at Maher Oval where we have the Turvey Park Bulldogs up against the GGGM Lions. The young Turvey boys certainly done themselves proud last week after disposing of the Eastern Hawks with a depleted side. They guised it right out to the finish and hung onto record a very good win for the club. They have been playing very well the last month and things are starting to happen around the club, albeit this late in the year. Andrew Donaldson, Chris Reekman, Dane Campbell and James Elliott were the pick in an even bunch last week. The GGGM Lions put in a big second half last week after being held somewhat by Coolamon in the first half. Without being disrespectful to Turvey Park the Lions will be using this game as a warm up for the big clash against Tigers next week. With three games remaining it is feasible that the Lions can finish on top of the ladder and host the major semi final in a few weeks. George Carroll, Luke Habel, Marc Geppert and Shane Lenon played well last week. The Bulldogs will try but will be no match for the Lions.

All the very best to all players and supporters as we head into the business end of the season. Thought of the Week: Ambition can creep as well as soar.

Last weekend we ventured over to Griffith to do battle with the Swans. The U18's got our day off to a good start with a solid four goal win. Curtis Richens and Matt Shepherd were standouts with Kane Peeters, Matt Thomas and Matt Zielinski rounding out the best.

Ressies battled hard for the entire game but could not piece together a win, going down by 5 goals. Best on for the boys were Jeff Millar, James Gorrie, Xave Higgins and Steve Johnson.

In first grade the boys had a sluggish first quarter and failed to really bother the Swans for the remainder of the match, despite some promising performances from Mitch Heydon bagging 3 majors, Geoff Spriggs, Sam Balding and Adam Howard.

Over at the courts our girls had another tough day against Griffith. C Grade managed the best result of the day going down by a handful of goals. Best players were birthday girl Kate Gillies and Larissa Ward who both played well under pressure.

In B Grade the girls were short on numbers and on stature and never looked like troubling their opponents. Alicia Richardson was awarded the mug with Jess Short taking out the encouragement award for a solid four quarters.

A Grade were always going to have a battle on their hands and despite exceptional efforts from mug winner Tracy Shultz-Cole and Kelly Walker they couldn't piece together a win. Special mention must also go to Alicia Richardson and Kate Gillies who both stepped up to play their second game of the day in A Grade.

Good luck to the boys today against Leeton and we hope to see everyone back at the Mango Pub for awards straight after the game. Also a special mention must go out to Brett Howard & Trent Cohalan who are both playing their 1 oo• games today and Reece Cohalan & James Gorrie who are both playing their so•. Top work boys!

A 5.5 opening term set the scene early for the firsts in the visit to the Leeton Showground. The Crows came back in the 2nd term to go into the long break down 29 points and full of confidence. The championship quarter resulted in an absok.Jte onslaught at goals by the Tigers.Seventeen shots at goal resulted in 13 majors with James Millikan and Matt Walder prominanat. The running machine was rampant - a blow out of 82 points to 6. The final term looked like it was going to be a mirror of the third except the wayward kicking of - 8 goals and 12 behinds.Again the goals were shared around with 12 kickers . Best players - Nathan McDonald was outstanding, James Millikan was so solid ,Ryan Plant (the everywhere man), Matt Walder (how good must he have been 20 years ago?), Matt Noonan was again as solid as a rock and Wayne Meyers was prominant throughout the entire four quarters, Andy Priest... ... the real war horse of the team again one of the best.

The Two's came away with an impressive 17.21 to 6.5 win despite being down on numbers. Lucas Denton continued to impress and has pencilled his name in the book for 1 sis in 2008. David Pullen had a big impact on possession of the footy, Ray Wilis was as always everpresent. Matt Bellairs certainly a big acquisition to the side this year and without doubt has been the big improver. Andrew Gunnser was in the thick of things all day and was nstrumental in many of the forward moves. Jason Schultz, again a key cog in the win. The 80 point win certainly could have been a lot more except for the wayward kicking - 21 behinds - probably time to get 'Scatters" Greg Sheather out for some practice - 57 behinds between the three sides for the day!

The 18's went down to the Crows by four goals. A pretty good effort by the boys against a stronger outfit. The Crows intensity and strength around the ball all day made it hard for our boys, but they battled hard at ii - just couldn't pick it up cleanly. Jacob Powell had a great game along with Trent Garner and Cam Johnson who potted four goals in a handy effort. Jack Davis, Jacob Osbeiston and Warren Bartlett all put in a terrific effort.

Netballers had wins in the A and C Grade with B Grade going down.

Tomorrow is the last of the home and away for the Juniors who play at Robertson Oval.

    EASTERN HANKS

Proudly Sponsored by Rose & Breust Real Estate On a day when the Club knew that two good wins in the

Footy was essential to aid our Finals hopes the outcome was somewhat disappointing. Hard work and discipline will always win out in the end and as a group we need to take this on board if we have any aspirations of not only making the Finals but also being successful.

The Reserves took to the field knowing full well that their percentage has become a mill stone around their necks and would need a massive win to go some way to rectify the situation. Although the effort shown was credible a number of opportunities were squandered that could have improved the result. Credit also to Turvey for battling this game right out and making our task that much harder. Award winners were Dean Spencer - Elders Breust Real Estate Mug (first game back after injuring his shoulder last season), Mick McPherson - Hunters Newsagency Club Towel (also returning after a long injury spell) and Simon Willis - Mobil Subway Voucher.

First Grade had the opportunity to create a small break on the other 5• spot contenders but failed to do so when they were out played in the final quarter by a more detemnined Bulldogs outfit. In a game where we had more than our share of opportunities and should have won we were not able to shake off the dogged Doggies who went on to a well deserved 7 Point win. Award winners were Jake Robinson - Elders Breust Real Estate Mug (unfortunately couldn't accept it as he is still an Under 16 Player but nonetheless a great debut), Rhys Grieve - Hunters Newsagency Club Towel (another Under 16), Craig DePiazza - Mobil Subway Voucher and Levi Pollett - Coolabah Tree Cafe Voucher.

The season just keeps getting longer for our Netballers who were out gunned again by more experienced and skilled opposition. However as the score line in both games shows the Girls were able to hold the opposition to reasonably low scores.

This week we take on the Ladder leading Tigers on their Home Ground in what will be a must win game for both grades if the Finals campaign is to become reality. Best of luck to all sides today. After the Game it's off to the Kooringal for a night of top class entertainment with the Eastern Hawks Karaoke challenge sure to provide some surprises.

  • NARRANDERA EAGLES

Today we take on the Griffith Swans and it seems a long lime ago when round 14 was played at the home of the Goanna's. We should be fighting fit and all the little injuries have been repaired, so we can continue to go forward with no incidents for the remainder of the season.

In the under 1 B's the Goanna's were far to strong for us.the game was better to watch than the results at the final siren but our players never gave up. The Robinson's Dept Store voucher went to Len Lyons, the Venice Pizza award to Brent Rose, and the NIFC awards went to Jarrod Vance and Daniel Morgan.

In the reserve grade again the strength of the goanna's were far to superior. It was unfortunate mishap that one of our players broke his ankle, and we wish him well in his recovery. Again some of the under 18's had to double up. Keep on th inking positive and we will get there in the end. Lee Baumgartner battled hard during the game, and he deserved to be picked as the Charles Sturt Hotel voucher, Scott Robinson played well to win the AWB award, Luke Sullivan with his second game on the day received the NIFC award and Chris Whiteman took home the AWB award.

In the first grade we showed the Goanna's what we are made off, even though we were missing a few players on the day. Ben Grant showed he can give 100% all day. Ben won the Charles Sturt Hotel BOG voucher, followed by Nie Hetherington the Murrumbidgee Hotel award, and the NIFC awards went to Chris Downes and Drew Kenna.

In the netball both the A and B grade won their netball. In the A grade Megan Corbett won the Murrumbidgee Hotel award, Brittany Vearing received the Charles Sturt Hotel award in the B grade and in the C grade in which they lost the Original Skin award went to Olivia Dawson.

Also a couple of dates to put in your diary: The RFL vote count night will be held on Tuesday 11th September at the NESC and our own club vote count and presentation night will be held on Friday 5th October. More infomnation will be given out when it comes into hand.

    Draws for the silver circle are draw 5 -108, Norm O'Mahoney; draw 6 - 290, Darren Knagge; draw 7 - 150, Bernie & Jeff and draw 8 - 186, Bruce Russell.

Thanks to all sponsor throughout the season. With out the help from all the sponsor and patrons a club does not exist

At the end of the games been played today, we will all gather at the NESC to ponder over the game and results, see you all there!

    GRIFFITH SNANS

Round 15 against the Goanna's was a great day with the club only losing one match. With two games and a bye remaining the big dance is getting closer and all grades remain in the hunt for finals spots.

Straight into the footy. The Firsts had a day out winning by 99 points and keeping their finals hope alive, The Reserves had a scrappy win and unfortunately the Eighteens was the only loss for the day.

The First's bounced back and smashed a hapless Goanna's side. Halls Butchery award and A&G Mug went to Matt McDonald , McDonald's award was won by Jeff Mickan, Exies went to Jono Gaston, Auto Pro went to Matt Kenny and West End Wines went to Ben Ford.

The Reserves had a scrappy win against a determined Goanna's Twos winning by only a couple of goals. The Caltex award and A&G mug went to Craig Lugton, McDonald's went to the Smithy, Exies went to Rod Duncan and the West End Wines went to Groves.

The U1 B's had a slow start to the day which in the end cost them the game. Jack Geddes won the McDonalds award, Luke Piccollo won the A&G mug, Will Makerainen won the drink bottle, Ryan Bull the canteen voucher, Michael Vittucci the Footy Focus award.

The C grade girls had the closet win for the day winning 24 to 17. Players Player Eclipse award went to Erin Keely and McDonald's coaches award going to Annaliese Jones.

The B grade girls had a massive win, winning 59 to 3. McDonalds coach's award went to Belinda Battiste! and the player's player Hall's Butchery award went to Adele Stinson.

The A grade girls had a dominating win, winning 62 to 27. McDonalds coach's award went to Kylie Pastro and the Eclipse player's player was won by Helen Overs.

The Girls continued their strong form with all grades having good wins and looking strong for finals.

Today we welcome everyone to Maher Oval for Breast Cancer Awareness Day; we trust everyone will give generously to this worthy course. 13000 women are diagnosed each year and the Australian football community are pleased to be able to donate to cancer research.

The Firsts came away from Gumly last weekend with a sensational courageous victory. With several players withdrawing before the game our depth was stretched but all the players who were promoted contributed well. Chris Reeckman continued his improved form to win the Rules Club dinner for 2. Jimmy Elliott bagged another 7 to get the Dominos Pizza, while Cameron Barker played a great Captains game with his curls stretched to take home the Hunters Towel. Dougy McLean repelled many attacks to take the NAB award, while Dane Campbell showed his class and was rewarded with The Auto Barn award.

The consistent Andrew Donaldson was again everywhere and was rewarded with The Mug, which was needed to numb the bruising he received.

Others to go well in a great team effort were John Hoey, who continued to play even though injured, Nathan Byrne and Blair (Giuseppe) Campbell.

The boys and girls celebrated well into lhe night, with Giuseppe making a reappearance selling his pizzas, Muzza belting out a tune and Dougy and Maria stopping off as well.

The Reserves were well down on numbers but never gave up trying against the Hawks. Michael Ness tried hard to take home the Dominos Pizza, Cade Roberts contributed well to win the socks. Ants Malone defended well to win the NAB award and young gun Riley McPherson gained plenly of possessions to win the Auto Barn award and equal highest votes in the Miltons Gear, along with Truman Carroll who was also rewarded with The Mug.

Both A & B grade netballers had convincing victories with little Lizzie Powell the standout for B Grade to win their Mug, which she put to good use.

Rachel Holden displayed plenty of form to win the Mug for A grade. The girls are doing us proud in all 3 grades .

This week we welcome Gan main to Maher Oval, last time we played it was a great contest so lets all dig deep and do it again.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Rules Club for the awards, the members draw and a few beverages after the game.

Don't forget Next week after the Coolamon game we will be having our Best & Fairest Vote Count at The Rules Club. All footballers, netballers, parents and supporters are encouraged to attend. UP THE BULLDOGSl!I!

  • BLAST FROM THE PAST

Once again this year we are running the popular feature Blast from the Past. We will endeavour to cover as vast a cross section as possible across the Riverina and we trust that you find it interesting reading. This week we feature a former player who gave the Coolamon club great service over a long period of time. Today we revive the career of Dick Pieper.

    Name: Dick Pieper

Details of Playing/ Coaching Career: Commenced career in 1958 and played first 1" Grade game under coach, Tom Weir. Played 450 1st Grade games. Represented SWDFL 15 t,mes. Represented NSW 10 times. Trialled with Geelong in 1962.

Awards / Medals Received: 1" Grade Best & Fairest. 3 Umes winner of the 2WG Footballer of the Year. 3• in the Gammage Medal in 1964. 3"' in the 2WG Star Award 1962.

    Favourite Playing Position: Centre

    Most Respected Opponents: Ganmain

Best Player Seen: Ian Gillett and Peter Box

AFL Club I Follow: Sydney Swans

Current Occupation: Wool Technical Officer with Moses & Son, Temora

Where do you see local AFL heading in the future? Unfortunately I see the local Aussie Rules going backwards.

There doesn't seem to be the same passion and rivalry that there was when I was playing.

Dick Pieper gave the Coolamon Football Club tremendous service having played a massive 450 games for thal Club. If you average it out at say 20 games a year that equates to over 22 years that he gave that club. He was a damaging centre man who could turn a game in one quarter. He was at his brilliant best when he played in the centre but was just as damaging when playing on the ball or having a stint in the forward line. He played in a very successful era for the Coolamon Football Club and he was a vital player In the premiership sides coached by Ian Gillett and Jim Hayes. II would have been a tragedy if Dick had not won a Best & Fairest Award and he did so during his illustrious career. The 2WG Footballer of the Year Award was very big during Dick's era and he was good enough to win this award 3 times - this was indeed a true testament of his football ability. When asked about his most respected opponent his response - Ganmain - was a true indictment of the tremendous rivalry that existed between those two clubs during Dick's playing career. Dick Pieper can hold his head high knowing that he gave the Grasshoppers tremendous service over a long period of time. So if you see Dick around give him a wave and tell him that enjoyed his Blast from the Past.

Once again this year we will be featuring the section Under the Spotlight. Each week we will be asking a well-known identity within the boundaries of the Southern NSW AFL to comment on several issues relating lo football and other social issues. It is intended to be both serious and light hearted and I hope that all readers find it both interesting and amusing. This week under the spot we place well known RFL identity and current committee member ofWagga Tigers, Howard Brown

What are your thought's on the drug testing procedures currently conducted in the AFL ie: not naming the players who have tested positive. The AFL has currently got it right not to name players and showing support to help them over come these problems. All players deserve the chance to correct their mistakes, no matter what their profile, position or position in society.

We have another new rule with the hand in the back. Do you think it is totally fair and does it deserve the criticism it has received from players and coaches. Good players are always in front so it's really a back mans nightmare. Consistency in umpiring of the rule is the key.

The AFL NAB Challenge match at Narrandera this year between the Sydney Swans and Collingwood was a tremendous success. Should the AFL consider holding it on an annual basis and at Narrandera. Yes, what a great spot in the middle of the Riverina. Possibly rotated each year between Narrandera and Wagga's new PSV - down at Robertson Oval.

What are your thoughts on the proposed State League that the NSW AFL want to have up and running in NSW by 2010. I think more attention to our own backyard here would really be the key. Build a powerful league combining both RFL and FFL to have 3 strong grades all on the one day over 2 days of the weekend and retain the talented players to our league rather than loose our future players to bordering clubs / leagues. Just imagine all the talent that has been lost from this area to ACT and VIC that could provide a super league in our own Riverina surrounding district. What more can be said? Opportunities can start from here! 1 ---------- -

    FFL EDITORIAL

II has taken until the completion of Round 14 but we can now confirm who will be the combatants in this years finals series. The Northern Jets will play Marrar in the second semi whilst CAK and TRYC will be doing battle in the first semi final. The Jets confinmed they are the side to beat after defeating CAK by 5 goals al the Cross Roads Oval. Marrar Bombers had lo overcome a 22 point deficit al ha~ lime before registering a 10 goal victory over the Bushpigs at Langtry Oval. TRYC booked a spot in the first semi final after a comprehensive 71 point win over the young Temora outfit at Nixon Park. All is in readiness for the penultimate round of matches today where we have a full dress rehearsal of the upcoming semi finals.

Langtry Oval is the venue for the all important clash between the Marrar Bombers and the Northern Jets. So far this season it is one all in the clashes so far and the outcome in this encounter will give the winner bragging rights only for the upcoming second semi final. The Jets were 7 points down at half time last week but they put in a very good second half to wear down the Demons. Rob Harper continues his stellar season and he is only six goals from registering a 100 for the year. Ken Fairman, Jeremy Quade and Matt Papworth have added plenty of experience to an already very seasoned outfit. Matt Hard has plenty of ammunition to work with and he and his match committee will come up with a very well drilled side. The Bombers got off to very sluggish slart last week and if they let the Jets get under their guard the game could well be over at half time. But I'm predicting lhat thal won't be the case and it will go right down to the wire. Matt Molkenlin has been a revelation since going up forward and he, along with Andrew Roberts, Shane McIntosh and Jarrod Gornall will be key figures for them. They do have some injury concerns to key players and that will be of concern to them - do you rest them and get them right for the finals or play them if they are near fit. I'm sure that they will make the right decision. Even though it's at Marrar I'm tipping the Jets because of the injury concerns that Marrar have and also because they have been the best side all year.

Another very important match is on at Victoria Park. The Rock, where we have the Magpies fronting up against the CAK Demons. The Magpies secured their finals campaign last week with a very good win over Temora and they will

be approaching this match in a very confident manner. They had twelve goal kickers last week so they are not depending on any one forward to kick a winning score for them. Their on ballers have been giving them plenty of drive this year and they will be looking to Mark O'Leary, David Pieper, Mick Mazzocchi and Justin Driscoll to be doing the same as they have all year. If they can get clean ball lo Jason Brown he will cause plenty of headaches for the opposition. The Gullie were in a good position at half time last week but faltered under the extreme pressure that was constantly applied to them last week by the Jets in the second half. They can take some positives out of that match as they staved off the best side in the competition for three and a half quarters only to let it slip by them in the last half of the last quarter. The outcome will give the winning side bragging rights as they go into the first semi final in a fortnight. Josh McKenzie, Chris Gow, Gareth Shaw and Brad Aiken will be very important in their quest for victory. Even though it's at The Rock I'm lipping the Demons to win a thriller by less than a kick.

The last match for decision is at Peter Hastie Oval where we have the Rivcoll Bushpigs up against the Temora Kangaroos. Al half time last week the Bushpigs were heading for the biggest upset of the season when they were 22 points ahead of Marrar and doing it off the bit. But a goal less second half saw them stumble and they wilted under the pressure. Still it was the best half of footy that they have played all year and it would have pleased the r brains trust to now that lhey are capable of mixing it wilh the best of them. Sam Chatfield, Chris Toohey, Josh Schirmer and coach, Jonathan Creenaune were the pick last week. Temora has had an improved season this year and some good performances during the year has seen them rid themselves of the easy beat tag. Their youth policy has certainly worked and it augers well for the upcoming years. A little bit of experience was probably lacking at times but that will come with age. Josh Hagar, Scott Blackwell, Shane Russell and Matt Mahon have been very consistent all year. I'm tipping the Kangaroos to topple the Bush pigs after four hard fought quarters.

All is in readiness for the second last round today and we wish all players and supporters all the very best of luck for. Thought for the Week: If everybody remembered the past, nobody would ever forgive anybody.

Ash superb season rolls along with another fine effort to got the Home Dinner. Pud enjoyed his game witfl plenty of 'dash" off the backline to get the hat. Tommy Bauer's attack on the footy is inspirational and he got the shirt for a very solid game.

  • 11vco,1 tt.S.U.) IIU With just about a full squad to pick from for the first time in a

few weeks, we travelled to Marrar last weekend to take on the Bombers but were unable to come away with a win.

Reserves started well with plenty of the ball but could not convert our opportunities in front of goals. The boys started the second half well with four goals but they could not hold the opposition and even though it was a tight last quarter, the Bombers were too good by 33 points. Nathan Brookes played well again from full back to receive the mug and received good support in defence from Scott Flaherty and Tim Duffield. Torvail McKillop, Dave Seymour and Aaron Cattanach worked hard in the midfield.

Firsts started well in the first half and played some of the best team footy for the year. Everyone knew that we still had half game to go but the opposition started to_find their radar after half time and our avenues to goal dned up. Brocky Richens played well on his wing again to receive the mug. Others to play well were Sammy Chatfield, Chris Toohey, Josh Schirmer, Tim Willis and coach John Creenaune who kicked 6 goals. There were plenty of positives in the game which we must build on in the remaining games and hopefully score that elusive win.

In the netball, we were more successful, scoring 3 wins from 3 games for the day. C grade started the day off with a big 52 to 21 win . Votes went to (3) Mel Peirce (2) _Laura Swasbrick (1) Emma Foley. B grade continued their winning run with a 42 to 28 win. Votes went to (3) Emily Morey (2) Kirsty Lowe (1) Bianca Dunn. A grade strengthened their finals position with a 44 to 18 win. Votes went to (3) Kelly Plozza (2) Bronwyn McLaughlin (1) Sheryn West

This week we welcome Temora to Bushpig Park were both grades of footy will be looking to make use of the home ground advantage and finish the season off with some positives. The Netballers will be looking to gear up for finals against their fellow finals contenders. Best of luck to everyone today. After the game its back to the Vic for awards.
