From President John…….……
We have got through November, with the Relay for Life on the 3rd and the Rotary Auto Expo on the 11th.
We are donating Rotary $500 from this activity. I attended their dinner meeting on the 26th and it was a
good meal at the leagues club.
The two dinner meetings were well attended and in particular, I would like to thank David Wright for the
Surf club and Scouts night on the 22nd.
The joint BBQ activity with Kiama Public school was a success and as a result we are looking to repeat its
success on the 16th of December with a partnership with the Kiama High School P& C.
Both Veronica and I spoke with the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday the 27th and the main outcome is
that the joint BBQ activities with the community groups will be our modus operandi for the foreseeable
future.
We will also have a roster put out shortly for the TOMRA scheme, we have sent in our contract and are
awaiting acceptance

News From The Cancer Care Trust
The Trust has donated a first aid kit to the Carers’ Cottage as well as a Resuscitation Chart. The gift was
provided knowing that many of the carers that may use the cottage facilities will be looking after cancer
sufferers.
The Australian Taxation Office has refunded $720 in franking credits to the Trust in regard to its investments.
The University of Wollongong has invited our Chair to a philanthropy afternoon on its Duck Pond Lawn, in
recognition of our previous donations to the Robert East Memorial Trust for cancer research at the
university. The university is celebrating forty years of philanthropy that provides it with research funds in
many fields.
The Trust is entering its twenty-third year, being formed during the Presidency of former Lion Rob Danby. In
that time, it has provided approximately $250,000 in assistance to citizens of Kiama with cancer, their carers,
and research grants. It is really an unsung hero of our club and a tribute to the foresight of the Lions
members at the time. The investigating committee then that advised our club was chaired by Past President
Jim Hinchliffe, whilst the Trust, once formed, has been chaired continuously by Past President Gerry
McInerney.
Current assets of the Trust consist of approximately $220,00 in investments and $12,000 in our Westpac
Bank account.
Immediate Past President Rob McKinnon has replaced Past President David McLeod on the Trust. This is in
accord with our governing charter that the Immediate Past President of our club automatically becomes a
Trustee, with the former Immediate Past President retiring. Other Trustees are Graham Bradley, John Larkin,
David Grant and Gerry McInerney.
Our auditors have returned our books and affirmed our good financial governance.
