7. Measurement of piston crowns at last overhaul and record if any replaced.

Alpha lubricator optimization

▪ On most engines with Alpha lubricator the injection frequency is too low, in other words the oil is not refreshed as often as required. Thereby the oil becomes exhausted without lubricity and neutralization of acid. The reason is that the Alpha size is not matched to the engine output and the service feed rate.

▪ Consequently the stand time becomes short and the margin betweenwell running and failure becomes narrow leading to unintendedoverhauls and off-hire.

▪ A modification of the lubricators will increase the

margin and the reliability considerably.
