The Heartland Regional Grouping is responsible for providing services to almost 1 million people in 24 counties in two states: in Nebraska, counties include Burt, Cass, Cedar, Cuming, Dixon, Dodge, Douglas, Knox, Madison, Pierce, Sarpy, Saunders, Stanton, Thurston, Washington and Wayne; in Iowa, counties include Crawford, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie and Shelby.

– Tom Kielty’s life changed when his Norfolk home flooded this past summer. As Tom and his wife, Carolyn, started the long and painful clean-up process, the Red Cross was there to provide support and clean-up supplies to help them and many others in the area. Since receiving help from the Red Cross, the Kieltys are getting more involved with their local Red Cross chapter.

She’s now a Red Cross volunteer and has made giving back an important value for her family of eight.

1,725 military families were connected to a deployed loved one through Red Cross emergency communication services to arrange his/her return because of a birth, illness or death in the family.
1,272 volunteers served more than 128,378 hours for disaster response, classroom instruction, governance, administrative functions and other services to better our community.

28,800 nutritious meals were served daily to aged and disabled Southwest Iowans by dedicated volunteers from community churches and organizations through our chapter’s Meals on Wheels program.
1,100 individuals are better educated about protecting themselves and others from HIV/AIDS and other STDs.
168 volunteers served in disaster response, classroom instruction, governance, administrative functions and other services to better our community.
