The route connects the towns and landscapes that were the inspiration for the Brothers Grimm fairy tales such as Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty. There are over 60 stops on the Fairy Tale Route including medieval villages, romantic castles, and dense woodlands. Covering 600 kilometres and filled with history, culture, and enchanted characters - this drive will bring your childhood dreams to life.


The Champagne Region of France stretches along the Marne Valley to the cities of Epernay and Reims and south towards Sezanne and the Côte des Bar. There are a number of routes covering around 580 kilometres that will take you through magnificent villages, ancient monasteries, historic churches and charming châteaux. HINTS & TIPSAn International Driving Permit (IDP) is proof that you hold a valid driver’s licence in your home country at the date of issue of the IDP. This should be carried with your domestic driver’s licence at all times. It is a very useful document and is required or recommended for many countries when hiring a motor vehicle.

It is essential when collecting a car that you also present a credit card in the main driver’s name. This is used to hold a security bond in case of any accident or incident. This bond is returned when the car is returned without incident. If you are travelling with a debit card, these are not always accepted so please check with DriveAway at time of booking and you may be required to take out an excess reduction option. Pre-paid cash or travellers cards are not accepted in any cases.

When you collect your car it is important to note the fuel policy that is applicable to your rental. The most common policy is a full to full arrangement where you collect and return the car with a full tank of fuel. Alternatively the other option is pre-paid fuel where you pre-pay for a tank of fuel and return the car as empty as possible, as there is no refund for unused fuel.
