“The BRIC on BRICs Program is a solid opportunity to revise and expand our own horizons, as we get to know and compare the economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China. They are really different, but with a lot of common features, such as the strategic effort to accelerate economic development, combining it with social inclusion and a new model of environmental management. We had contact with many different experiences and visions, from which, for sure, will emerge a new development model."

Windson Vieira pazDirector for Quality,Fiat/Chrysler Latin America

partICIpants: Business Owners; CEOs; Directors of Strategy, Investment and International Business; Investors; Government Officials interested in understanding the BRIC economies and business environments.

The BRIC countries are among the most important drivers for growth in the global economy. The expansion of their consumer markets and the rise of multinational companies coming from BRICs guarantee that BRICs will remain the center of attraction for companies facing international markets.

However, success in BRIC markets depends on the understanding of business specifics in these countries, knowledge of business environments, and readiness to work under challenging and fast-changing conditions. The potential and opportunities are immense, but success is mainly dependent on the solutions to the following questions:

— How do we adapt global business models to compete successfully in BRIC countries?

— How does one access valuable talent in BRIC countries?

— What are the best ways to build local partnerships and how to benefit from them?

— What are the competitive threats coming from the so-called emerging giants (like Huawei and Haier from China, Tata Group from India, Vale from Brazil, Lukoil from Russia, etc.) and how your company can deal with them?

— What is the role of the governments in these countries and how can companies work effectively with the authorities?

— What is the role of state-owned enterprises and public sector units? Is it going to change in future?

— What has contributed to the outstanding success of some industries in the BRIC countries, such as extractive industries, manufacturing and IT services?

The BRICs on BRICs program provides participants with the knowledge, skills, and insights into successful investment and operation models in the BRIC countries. The program addresses both the macro perspectives of each of the BRIC economies and micro-level details of operational excellence in those countries.

“The BRICs on BRICs Program was a real eye opener into the development of business in BRIC countries. The program provided unparalleled insights into the impact of history and culture on the business environment in each country. Each country offers huge opportunities within its unique business environment. Besides the access to relevant information about each country, the program presented the opportunity to discuss real business issues with exceptional local faculty as well as senior executives who have led business in these countries for many years. Overall this course helped me to critically analyze my operations in specific BRIC countries and immediately influence our business with relevant tactics and strategies."

pedagogy

The program pedagogy is based mainly on experiential learning, including:

— Lectures with faculty from the four partner schools, who have a deep understanding of the local environment;

— Testimonials and panels with both local and foreign executives who work in the country;

— Business meetings give an opportunity to network and to establish business connections with potential partners and investors in these countries;

— Household and company visits allow participants to be in touch with the real life of people and companies in each country;

— Cultural visits and activities help to understand the foundations of each society.

The BRICs on BRICs program was indeed a valuable experience of intercultural and managerial expertise exchange on economy, business mentality, prospects and opportunities of growth across the worlds' most important emerging markets. It was a good idea to combine various aspects of doing business with interviews, site visits, interactive exercises just in several modules convenient to fit the normally tight executives' schedules. In many respects, it is on par with a mini MBA course. Establishing networks across industries and countries and going into the details of local business environment are essential benefits of the program. Collaboration of the leading business schools from each of the four BRIC countries particularly led to incredibly fruitful results.”

nikita mazein, Vice President for International Business Development OJSC Atomenergomash Rosatom Group Company

The BRICs on BRICs program was a great leap in my actual knowledge on emerging economies. We had a complete panorama of each country and of the group of countries. The horizontal approach has allowed me to understand the economy, the culture, the management style and the historical process of the countries. The in-depth vertical approach has allowed me to understand the most important challenges in the business environment. Additionally, we made visits to both "companies and households" that helped in drawing a complete picture of each society. I highly recommend this program, which has made a difference in my career and my contribution to Petrobras.”

gilberto ribeiro de Carvalho, Strategic Planning Manager Petrobras

“My company is an export-oriented business with partners in BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). In the course of the BRICS on BRICS program, brilliant faculty of top business schools of these countries gave us insights into political aspects, economy, and culture of each country and, which is of particular importance, the local business environment. We were offered comprehensive information and enjoyed the opportunity to make familiarization trips, which allowed me to gain systemic and good knowledge of realities in BRIC countries and filled me with confidence for expanding my business in these countries.”
