DO YOU LOVE TO CYCLE??
Why not give it a try? There is a group in and around Bath that get-together
every couple of weeks and go for a ride. This is DEFINITELY recreational
cycling. We might go 35 km in a day – but that day is broken up with lots of
stops for water, chat, maybe ice cream and, of course, food. You don’t need a
high tech bike and you don’t need high tech clothes.
All you need is yourself, a bike that works, the energy to make it to the end and most definitely a
helmet. Of course, if you did not make it to the end, we would come back in a vehicle to pick you up.

LCCRA Community Member set to cycle through the Rockies for MS
This coming August Doug Noiles will be cycling 222 kilometers over two days in the Rockies of interior British Columbia with a group of awesome people ... many with MS. He is doing this not only for the experience, but more importantly to raise money for the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. Doug has been in training for some time for this event and would be greatly appreciative if our readers would consider a donation to this very
important cause.
You can call Doug Noiles or send him an email at [email protected] for further information and to get a link to his personal web-page where you can view a brief video of the event and of the route that he will be cycling. You will also find a
convenient and confidential site to make a donation.

Residents’ Appreciation/Comments
SUNSHINE CLUB
Cherie Gazarek
Thanks so much for the very special medicine that I received from the Sunshine Club. It came at
very good time especially since I had to undergo an operation on my right forearm due to, what I
thought, was a small fall. Nope...it was shattered bones. My luck. Thanks for all your kind thoughts
and good wishes, especially to those very special neighbours and friends we have in our community.

Sheri Wenzl
Many thanks to Linda McCormick for the nice visit and the goodies from the Sunshine Club. To the numerous well-wishers and sympathetic friends I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of them. Most of all I want you to know how much I appreciated all the time you spent keeping me entertained! The recovery is going well in no short measure to all of you.
Gratefully,
Richard Ward

Loyalist / Bath Community News
Thank You from the Bath Canada Day Committee
A big thank you goes out to all those who
helped out with Canada Day celebrations.
Everything went very smoothly and whatever
problems we encountered were solvable.
Loyalist residents were a big part of the
volunteer contingent namely: Andy and Nancy
Gautheir, Bonnie and Kent Fredenburg, Dave
Nolting, Jim and Laurie Minorgan, Mel
Campbell, Norm Harmer, Mary McWhirter,
Dave Stewart. Sean and Pam Melia, Sally and David
Golding, Gerry Hartley, Mary Ann Gibbons, Bob
Elliott, Dorothy, Esther Quirt, Ann Myers, Rosemary
Webster and Dorothy Hunt. A special nod goes to
Keira and Kevin Fitzgerald and Charlotte and Sam
Kennedy who helped us sell out this year's Canada
Day Buttons by walking the Parade route. I am
always terrified of leaving someone out when I do
this sort of list so if I have omitted your name, please
accept my apologies.
Next year is the 150th Anniversary of Confederation and planning has already begun. We are hoping
to expand the celebrations to encompass Canada Day and the arrival of the Tall Ships one week
later.
If you would like to be a part of this, please send me a
note at [email protected] and we can chat.

The Bath/Loyalist Community has a New Coffee Shop
Early Canada Day morning, Berno Wenzl and Doug
Love decided to drop in to the new coffee shop on Main
Street and see if it was ready for its first customers.
To their surprise it had just opened two minutes earlier
and was ready to serve some delicious coffee.
We were greeted by Lauren the owner of “The LODGE”
our newest coffee shop. She was eager to show her
skills at making just about any kind of coffee you could
ask for.
Why not drop in and introduce yourself and welcome her
to our great community !
St John's Anglican Church has an Outreach programme for community
residents.
The Parish of St. John's is community based and in concert with the events held at the St. John's
Community Hall, they are developing an Outreach Team to offer a range of services to our
community. These shall include such things as short home visits and small workshops on health,
safety and personal wellness issues. They would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new
and established residents of Bath/ Loyalist community to take advantage of the new services they
are planning to offer in the next few months.
For more information on their Outreach services contact John Morrison at 613-352-5418.

Loyalist Township Cemeteries Information
Loyalist Township is the licensed operator of several
cemeteries including Glenwood, Pentland, Lutheran Union, and
Switzerville Cemeteries. As a licensed cemetery operator, the
Township is required to record all burial details, sales/transfer
information, and permissions on behalf of the families, and to ensure there is a living Interment
Rights Holder to permit any future burials or memorializations in a family plot.
If you have not already done so, we would appreciate your assistance in providing us with any
information you may have with respect to your rights in these cemeteries.

Editorial and other Stuff
The following is an open letter from the LCCRA Executive and the LCCRA President
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Our by-laws state that we can serve up to 2 terms of 2 years for a total of 4 years before we must
step down. Next May (2017 AGM), I will have to step down as President since I will have served for
4 years. Our secretary has indicated that he, too, will be stepping down. The association
membership numbers approx 290 households or somewhere between 500 and 550 people. Surely
there are some of you out there that can give back a few hours of your time to ensure that this
association can continue to exist and serve this community as it has in the past.
We still do not have a social convenor. A substantial number of members have told us in the May
2016 surveys that you are very interested in bus trips to local events or attending a murder mystery
dinner theatre and more. These activities require people to organize them and one person to act as
a focal point on the board of directors. It does not have to be the same person for each activity but
unless someone in our community steps up, these activities will remain on the wish list.
If the association is to continue to thrive, we have to be willing to make this happen. It does not have
to be a time-consuming effort, but please consider stepping up and help to keep this association
functioning.
Please contact the LCCRA via e-mail ([email protected] ) or contact any member on the board if
you can offer some help (see http://lccra.ca/who-we-are/lccra-executive/ )
Getting a new generation of people involved in the association is essential to our long-term well-
being. If you would like to see how our association works, please ask to sit in on one of our board
meetings.
On behalf of the LCCRA board of directors,
Paul Jepson - President
