The Wonthaggi Woody April 2019 P1 The colder weather has arrived and with it some of the rain we want. The storm that went through Wonthaggi a couple of weeks ago tested out our workshops and I am pleased to say that all the water stayed outside. Now is the time to put on that extra jumper and get into the workshop and make items for sale/display for later in the year. Also its time to remind members that it is important to keep up attendances at regular workshop sessions. The supervisors are there to assist you. To those who have (or are going to) head northfor the winter, dont forget to come back. A number of members have had medical and other issues to face recently. We wish them welland hope that things will be back to normal soon. On the brighter side, Roy and Pauline Fischmann recently celebrated their 70 year wedding anniversary, Congratulations! A number of new pieces of equipment have been (or will be) installed. Talk to your supervisor about the correct use of these and all other equipment that you use. Be prepared to assist your colleagues when necessary. The recent (April) edition of the Australian Woodworker drew my attention to some articles in Club Drumbeat’. Three clubs were featured and it is very interesting to read about what other clubs are doing. Also, in the Productssection was mention of a Casting Resinand a Composite Epoxy’. I have tried one or two similar products with varying success. They are used to enhance pieces of work. It would be interesting if members who have used these materials, could share their experiences with other club members. Finally, ELECTIONS”. ‘Club Elections’. There is only one Club General Meeting (July) between now and the A.G.M. in August. Members need to give thought as to who they want representing them on our Club Committee. Hartley. CHURCHIL ISLAND

EASTER SATURDAY

Perfect weather brought out the crowds and we had one of the best days we've had in a while.

We had two mebers on lathes, three pyrographers putting names on toys and 7 assembling toys

with the kids. We put together 186 toys. Some of the parents come back year after year for a new

toy and are very appreciative of the experience and interaction of the kids and toymakers. Some

parents were surprised that we also make kits.

A reminder that the Vietnam Museum day is on Sunday July 7th

We need helpers please!

LES MISERABLES

CART FINISHED

Here's Something I think a few of you might relate to!

Two older gentlemen were venting their frustrations about the woes of modern technology. "I just can't ever seem to remember my darned passwords," complained one of them. The other one smiled. "Oh really, I can never forget mine!" "How do you manage that?" asked the first guy curiously. "Well, I simply set all my passwords to 'Incorrect' so that whenever I'm told that my password is incorrect, I'll remember it!"

Well it is done! Lionel's merry band of dedicated and expert timber artisans have completed

this challenging task. The cart is now in the hands of the Les Mis prop team who has “dirtied

it up” to make it look old and used. According to Lionel it is almost unrecognisable.

I would encourage you all to consider seeing the show. It is on from the 25th May - 9

th June

at the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre.
