You get the right care

The NHS belongs to the people:

A Call To ActionEvery day the NHS saves lives and helps people stay well. But 65 years ago it was different. Many had to choose between poverty or seeing a doctor

Today the NHS treats 1 million people every 36 hours

Our life expectancy increased by 4.2 years between 1990 and 2010

88 per cent of patients said their quality of care was either excellent or very good

But…

Page 12: Your Clinical Commissioning Group

The population is getting older – the number of people over 80 will double by 2030

The number of people with diabetes is expected to hit 4 million by 2025

The public is asking for health services to operate seven days a week

There is a limited amount of money. If we do nothing, the NHS could face a gap of £30 billion.

A Call To Action

The NHS belongs to the people:

A Call To Action

Doing nothing is not an option.

Ensuring that healthcare remains free at the point of use will mean fundamental changes.

We need to work with HealthWatch, the public and all the area’s voluntary organisations to decide how to do this.

Tell us your ideas and solutions to help us plan our next five years.

The NHS belongs to the people:A Call To Action

1. How can we work together to prevent people from becoming ill or to treat illnesses earlier?

2. How can we ensure people’s mental and physical health are treated the same?

3. How can we encourage and support patients to take more responsibility for their own health?

4. How can we ensure health services focus on the needs of our patients?
