The buildup has been draining. The winds of Teshuva blew through the month of Elul and brought us Rosh Hashana. The Aseres Y emai Teshuva ushered in Y om Kippur and then we celebrated Zman Simchasenu in the Sukkah. Topping it all off was the joyous dancing and singing on Simchas Torah which our sore throats and tired feet attest to! And now suddenlyit is Shabbos Bereshis. What do we do now? There is a profound teaching of the Kotzker Rebbe on the first three words of the Torah which will be read on Shabbos that provide the answer. The Torah begins with the words שאיבת ברא אי בראשיusually translated as In the beginning Hashem createdwhich the Rebbe read with a slight twist – Hashem created only the beginning – the rest is up to us! Shabbos Bereshis is a reality check to see how we will apply all of the beginnings we have recently experienced and become better and kinder people. The High Holidays are a platform which elevated us to new heights and opportunities. So what are we supposed to do now? Our real work lays ahead. May we be wise enough to maximize all of Hashems gifts for a happy healthy and sweet new year! So what are we supposed to do now? The buildup has been

draining. The winds of Teshuva blew through the month of Elul
