Transcript of You'd Be Crazy Not To Do These 5 Things in Vanuatu
Why Vanuatu?
Yes. There are thousands of holiday
destinations around the world to choose
from, but these tourist spots have become
so predictable they rob the excitement for
those who thirst for a change from the
usual and overexposed itineraries.
Thinking of being surprised as a thing of
the past, be surprised there is still a place
left where you can relive the feeling of
anticipation: Vanuatu.
5 - Night Walk on a
Volcano Rim
Well-known for its active volcano Mt
Yasur, the islet of Tanna is the perfect
setting for this oh-no-you-didn’t-dare
encounter. Witness scenes straight from
the 2012 movie as huge pieces of molten
rock and red-hot magma shoot out of the
crater, lighting the night sky like
fireworks. Of course, you’ll be stationed
in a safe distance away from one of
Mother Nature’s most deadly showcases.
4 - Explore Santo's
Blue Hole
When asked about the Nanda Blue Hole,
visitors are often at loss of what adjectives to
use to describe the place and the experience
(apparently, P-L-A-I-N didn’t do it justice;
perfect, lovely, amazing, incredible,
notable). Just imagine a setting formed by
springs of fresh water rising to the surface
which then cuts out a deep hole in the
limestone; perfect for kayaking, old-school
picnic or for plain soul searching.
3 - Abseiling Efate's
Mele Cascades
Hidden by lush rainforest and a
short 15 minute drive from Port
Vila, Mele Cascades stays atop
on the list of Vanuatu’s must-
see destinations. You know the
abseiling muse was on duty
when waterfalls seem to tumble,
with extra vigor, to a clear wide
pool; you just got to try it!
2 - God’s View
Galore
Even by the name itself, Vanuatu
screams of natural delight, may it be
air, sea, or land. But, as a mere mortal,
we don’t have God-like power to
transform our self into a bird to fully
appreciate fiery volcanoes, tropical
lakes, water lagoons, and lush green
rainforests. So what to do about it? Get
a seaplane and enjoy unbelievable
sights worthy of Zeus’ attention.
1 – Watch Badass
Bungee Jump
If you visit Vanuatu in May, chances are
you’ll be witnessing something so mouth-
opening you wouldn’t believe your luck;
long before bungee jumping became a
world staple among adrenalin junkies,
male villagers of the South Pentacost
were frog leaping from great heights only
to stop dangerously short of the ground.
Madness for the tourists, but this is a just
part of the Naghol ceremony.
