SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Premier Team in American Professional Supercross/Motocross, ATV and Road Racing

Page 2: Yoshimura Sponsorship Opportunities

Racing sponsorship, correctly packaged and orchestrated can be one of the most impactful tools available today. Team Yoshimura/Suzuki Racing is pleased to offer three premier teams in one sponsorship package.

Well coordinated efforts have consistently demonstrated market share gains far exceeding what one might expect from a misconception that racing sponsorship yields nothing more than a high speed billboard.

One example of this comes from Norton Industries*. According to

Charles Baron, Racing Coordinator for his company:

“Norton chose the racing theme because racing is aggressive, competitive, pioneering, responsive, tough, and efficient... projecting the same qualities that describe Norton. The promotion of our racing sponsorship is an excellent way to portray this image to Norton customers. It is also a means of capturing the attention of key industrial buying influences throughout the country.”

With the general public’s interest in racing increasing with every season, Team Yoshimura/Suzuki Racing feels that a competitive team will provide sponsors with high value media material, a broad range of corporate exposure and other corporate benefits.

This quote by renowned car team owner, Roger Penske, brings this corporate interest more sharply into focus**:

“In racing, as in business, those who cover their bases and plan for success are usually the same ones who achieve it. We use our racing program as a tool for building our business. Racing is a key element in our intra-company morale and employee entertainment. Equally important, it provides us with an opportunity to entertain prospective customers.”

*Norton Industries Inc. is a leading manufacturer of adhesives products.

Yoshimura Racing LLC, is a California-based corporation involved in the over one hundred year old sport of Motorcycle Racing.

Yoshimura has been in business over 55 years and entered seriously into the highly visible world of American AMA Motorcycle competition over thirty years ago. Yoshimura has enjoyed a great relationship with American Suzuki Motor Corporation that has seen racing and winning in all categories of motorcycle and ATV racing.

Yoshimura has also been managing various racing efforts for American Suzuki for a very long time. Our team has won many titles since its inception and is – without doubt – THE premier team in Road Racing, ATV, and one of the elite teams in the Supercross/Motocross racing category. In fact, Yoshimura helped define the sport of Superbike Racing, the premier class of motorcycle racing in the United States; and re-defined Professional ATV racing as well.

Yoshimura is an iconic name in Powersports both in the United States- but also around the world.

Through the imagery and legend of Yoshimura, we are able to deliver not only the at venue general audience, television audience, and world press; but also the weight of American Suzuki advertising and collateral. In addition, our racing efforts offer up access to the 1200 Suzuki Dealerships across the country. 91% of Suzuki dealerships are multi-line which means virtually every major motorcycle/ATV in the United States can be directly reached by Team Yoshimura/Suzuki program partners.

Yoshimura brings a heavy bat to this game. Arguably the name “Yoshimura“ is the most heavily branded name in the

Powersports Industry.

WHAT IS YOSHIMURA?

Arguably the name “Yoshimura“ is the most heavily branded name in the Powersports Industry.

POWERSPORTS, WHAT IS IT?

You have all seen these events on television and playing to major crowds in major sports stadiums and venues across the country. Brightly colored motorcycles racing at speed, jumping through the air – rounding corners at Daytona at incredible speed, and charging into the first turn in a rush of plastic, aluminum, and carbon fiber. Powersports is loosely defined as non-automotive terrestrial motorized racing, or – the really exciting sports that you can’t stop watching.

Individually these are the most exciting sports on planet earth today. Collectively, these four elements are what every 12-35 year old in the United States lives and breathes. Yoshimura is in the unique position of running elite teams in all three categories of Powersports and Yoshimura is equally in a unique position to offer some real value and bang for the buck by offering up an all-encompassing “Umbrella” program. Program Partners can hop on board individually or can realize tremendous savings by getting involved in all three categories. The choice is yours.

Simply stated – Powersports is the key to a huge demographic of active buyers!

THE SPORT - SUPERCROSS/MOTOCROSS

Supercross is racing inside closed stadiums on a smaller track comprised of multiple jumps, rough “Whoop” sections, and switch-back 180 degree corners. Outdoor Motocross is made up of natural terrain tracks with much higher speeds (70mph plus). Outdoor Motocross tracks usually feature many jumps, elevation changes, and high speed rough straight-a-ways.

America loves Supercross. In the tight confines of the stadium, the racing machines reach speeds of up to seventy miles per hour, and jump obstacles of over 100 feet! This spectacular sport has grown from the early seventies inauguration, to the sell out, multi-million dollar extravaganza it is today.

The races themselves consist of a series of qualifying heat races that cull the field down to only the top competitors. These top racers engage in a final “Main Event” at the end of the night.

There are two categories of racing machine in Supercross based on the class of bike. They are “Supercross” and “Supercross Lites”. The Supercross class is made up of the larger 450cc machines while the Supercross Lites is 250cc machines.

What comes between the racer and victory isn’t just the other competitors though, there is also the track itself. Tons of dirt are trucked into the stadiums and diabolical tracks are constructed featuring sections so difficult to traverse

they seem impossible. In fact many of the obstacles can’t be walked...they have to be ridden at speed...not for the feint of heart.

By far the most popular obstacles are the jumps. Double, triple, and even quad jumps, pitch riders into the night air in a most spectacular fashion. The fans let out an audible gasp as the athletes soar. There are lots of spills and definitely a lot of thrills, but statistically, this is one of the safest of all motorsports.

When the stadium series winds down the Outdoor National Championship series starts up. Also know

as the “Nationals” this series features racing over natural terrain outdoor racetracks.

The Nationals are truly a test between man and machine. Brutally fast, rough and usually hot; the Nationals separate the men from the boys. These events are also televised on Speed Channel and although the VPH numbers aren’t up there with Supercross, they still hammer out a ton of exposure.

The Nationals format is a little bit different from Supercross. The two classes, feature two races each per day. These races are called “motos”. The lowest aggregate score of the combined motos wins. First place yields one point, second two points, so it is a pretty simple formula.

Between Supercross and Motocross, the season runs the better part of the year. The exposure is non-stop as is the action.

The racers themselves are mostly 18-30 years old, superbly conditioned athletes. In fact stadium motorcycle racers have been the focus of much study by sports medicine researchers. The incredible pounding, combined with the aerobic fitness required, create racers of impressive physical characteristics.

The sanctioning body or “rules makers and enforcers in this category is AMA Pro Racing. AMA Pro Racing is the leading sanctioning body for motorcycle sport racing in the United States.

The weight of some rather large corporations involvement also keeps the sport healthy and attractive. Chevy Trucks, Rockstar, Sobe’s, Monster Energy Drinks, Samsung, T-Mobile, Red Bull, these are just a few of the corporations involved in this sport. A wide range of corporate sponsors are found on the machines and transporters. Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, and Kawasaki all field factory teams.

This spectacular sport has grown from the early seventies inauguration, to the sell out, multi-million dollar extravaganza it is today.

RAciNg BiogRAPhy Dungey initially got into racing because his dad, Troy, raced as an amateur and instilled his passion for the sport into his sons. His rise to the pro ranks in the summer of 2006 surprised some, but Ryan Dungey’s performance since turning pro has validated the decision to move him up. Dungey begins his fourth year with the Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing team in 2010. His outlook has moved from awe at the opportunity to expectations of championships. The 20-year-old racer from Minnesota has become one of the most talked about racers in both Supercross and Motocross competition.

RAciNg iNfo Dungey is considered by many in the motocross industry to be at the top of the next crop of talented riders, so it was no surprise that Ryan was named AMA Rookie of the Year for Supercross/Motocross in 2007. He went straight from the amateur ranks to the factory Suzuki rig. He is only the second rider from his home state of Minnesota to ever win a major AMA National Championship (the late Donny Schmidt is the other).

“The 2009 season was a great one for me,” said Dungey. “I had a great time.” Dungey was crowned AMA West Coast SX Lites Champion as well as AMA 250 Motocross Champion. Dungey also placed first in the MX1/Open class at the Motocross of Nations in Italy, and helped Team USA place first in the event. For 2010, Dungey will move up to race the Suzuki RM-Z450 in the AMA Supercross series, as well as the AMA Outdoor Nationals in the summer session.

RAciNg BiogRAPhy Moss started riding at the age of three and racing at the age of four in Nowra (NSW), and since then has climbed toward the top level of the sport. Moss was a regular front-runner in New South Wales competition, finishing third in the 1995 State titles before taking the crown the following year. He added further state titles to his resume in 1997 and 1999, before tasting National success in 2000 in the 85cc ranks, cementing himself as a future star of the sport. Throughout his racing career, Moss attracted attention with solid results and a talent for racing.

RAciNg iNfo In the lead-up to his 2008 Pro Lites championship campaigns, Moss won the Stroke Supercross Summer Nationals and the Stadium Motocross Series aboard a Suzuki.

In seven rounds, Moss recorded three wins and three seconds, enough to claim the championship at the penultimate round. Moss’ Australasian Supercross Championship resulted in an invitation to the 26th annual Dortmund Supercross. Moss had the pace to match it with the Europeans taking out the first race of the SX1 Class. A DNF in race two and ninth is race three resulted in fifth place overall. In 2009, Moss, one of the fastest stars of the Australian off-road racing scene, spearheaded Team Shift Motul Suzuki’s Pro Lites campaign and took the Australian Pro Lites Championship as well as the Australasian Pro Lites Championship.

Youth, daring, speed, competition, color, these are but a few of the words that can be used to describe Motorcycle Road Racing. Modern day gladiators take to venues across the U.S.A, doing battle on high tech machines of carbon fiber and exotic alloys.

The races themselves consist of a series of timed practice sessions, qualifying through a SuperPole system, and then lining up for the race. Many races are double headers featuring two separate races – one on Saturday and one on Sunday. At most of the Road Racing events there is also a huge turn-out of support class riders who race in support of the AMA Superbikes. But the AMA Superbike Road Racing class is the “big-one”, the premier Motorcycle Road Racing series in the United States. It has been this way for almost 30 years.

The AMA Superbikes are powered by 1000cc (mostly) four-stroke racing engines; making upwards of 215hp. The machines only weigh around 400 pounds giving them a power to weight ratio that is downright intimidating. Superbikes are truly the “E” ticket ride in American motorcycle racing – nothing else even comes close to the thunder of a pack of these snarling machines; racing Pall-Mall towards the green flag on the opening lap of a race. It takes your breath away.

There are lots of spills and definitely a lot of thrills, but statistically, this is one of the safest of all motorsports. Modern track designs have removed obstacles that used to cause serious injury, now- when a rider falls he/she typically slides off the track slowly to a stop. The racers themselves are mostly 22-35 years old, superbly conditioned athletes. Road Racers are typically super fit.

The incredible strength needed to man-handle these machines, combined with the aerobic fitness required to endure the race itself, create racers of impressive physical abilities. The training and discipline the riders exhibit is an inspiration to youngsters looking for role models.

The sanctioning body in this category is AMA Pro Racing. AMA Pro Racing is the leading sanctioning body for Motorcycle Road Racing in the United States. The promoting group is the Daytona Motorsports Group also known as the DMG. The DMG is owned by the same people that promote the NASCAR series. Average participation has grown considerably over the last twenty years.

The weight of some rather large corporations involvement also keeps the sport healthy and attractive. Rockstar Energy Drinks, Makita Power Tools and Monster Energy Drinks are just a few of the corporations involved in this sport. It’s an old saying but: “What wins on Sunday sells on Monday”. Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Ducati, Aprilia and Kawasaki all field factory efforts. The National Championship series, also known as the “Nationals”, has venues at all of the famous racetracks across the country: Laguna Seca, Road America, Virginia International Raceway to mention a few. The Nationals are truly a test between man and machine – A spectacle of performance.

Tommy finished 3rd in the 2009 AMA Pro Superbike Series, and was on the podium in half of the races in the season. The two-time Supersport Champion, Hayden and his No. 22 Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki GSX-R1000 will be running at the front of the pack in the 2010 AMA Pro Superbike series, which will mark his fourth year riding a Suzuki. He’s the oldest of three brothers from one of the nation’s best-known racing families. Hayden turned pro when he was 16 and got his first factory ride two years later.

Tommy and his crew chief, Daisuke Hashimoto, have the GSX-R1000 dialed in and are carrying momentum into 2010. “2009 was a good season,” Tommy said, “but I definitely feel like we left room for improvement. I’m expecting big things, so I’m excited for the 2010 season to get here and to make it happen.”

“It’s a different bike this year, but not a drastic change. There are several small changes here and there that we’ve made, and hopefully they’ll add up to a big improvement once we get closer to the start of the season. The horsepower is improved; I can definitely feel the difference.”

Young started his racing career as a child in dirt track and then became a full-time road racer at age 15. He competed in the Superstock and Supersport classes as well as Formula Xtreme before moving to the Superbike class in 2009. He finished sixth overall in his rookie Superbike year and was on the podium four times. He missed one race after being injured at the Birmingham, Alabama, round of the series, in which he needed surgery to repair his pinkie finger. He returned in time for the Road America stop in Elkhart Lake, Wis., which is close to his hometown.

For 2010, Young will be working with legendary crew chief Peter Doyle. “I’m looking forward to working with him and to getting that first race win under my belt,” Young said. “Hopefully after that the wins keep coming and a championship will follow.”

The AMA Pro ATVs are 450cc four-stroke ATVs making upwards of 65 hp and capable of speeds in excess of 80 mph. The machines weigh close to 400 pounds giving them a power to weight ratio that is downright explosive.

The races themselves consist of a series of timed practice sessions, qualifying, and then two heat races called “Motos”. For points, each Moto is scored individually, but to determine the overall winner the aggregate lowest score between the two motos is the winner. The best score would be a 1-1 placing for a total of two points… and so on.

At most of the Pro ATV events there is also a huge turn-out of amateur riders who race in support of the Pro Class. But the AMA Pro ATV class is the “big-one”, the premier ATV racing series in the world today.

The most popular obstacles are the jumps. Double, triple, and even quad jumps, pitch riders into the air in a most spectacular fashion.

The racers themselves are mostly 22-35 years old, superbly conditioned athletes. In fact Pro ATV racers have been the focus of much study by sports medicine researchers. The incredible pounding, combined with the aerobic fitness required, create racers of impressive physical characteristics. Pro ATV racers have consistently out performed other professional athletes in treadmill, and other

overall fitness tests. The fitness aspect of the sport virtually precludes any drug/alcohol use by the participants, resulting in one of the most ”squeaky” clean images in sport. The training and discipline the riders exhibit is an inspiration to youngsters looking for role models.

The sanctioning body in this category is AMA Pro Racing. AMA Pro Racing is the leading sanctioning body for ATV sport racing in the United States. Racer Productions and the iconic Coombs family run the day-to-day races and make things happen.

Launched in 1985, the series grew almost overnight due to the popularity of three and four wheel ATVs. Average participation grew over 200% between the early eighties and 2007. Although the series has always offered a Pro class, it was not until 2007 that it gained official AMA Pro Racing recognition, adding just another notch of prestige to the series.

The weight of some rather large corporations involvement also keeps the sport healthy and attractive. Rockstar Energy Drinks, Makita Power Tools, Monster Energy Drinks, are just a few of the corporations involved in this sport. It’s an old saying but, “What wins on Sunday sells on Monday”. Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, CanAm, Polaris and Kawasaki all field factory teams.

The National Championship series, also known as the “Nationals”, features racing over natural terrain outdoor racetracks. The Nationals are truly a test between man and machine. Fast, rough and usually hot; the Nationals are a true test of both rider and machine.

Thanks to transponder scoring, the ATVMX Series was able provide for the first time, live timing and scoring for all 34 classes on the internet viewable by those unable to attend the events. In addition, riders at the track were able to view the same at the timing tower on a large flat screen television. For the Pro teams, this feature was also networked to the Mechanic’s Area.

RAciNg BiogRAPhy:Dustin Wimmer began his ATV racing career at age 9, moving up to a Suzuki LT80, and graduating through the race classes with unmatched success. He joined the National Tour in 2000 midway through the season. In 2001, Wimmer earned his first National Championship in the Open B class. The next season, Wimmer raced three different classes in both the MX series and the Tourist Trophy (TT) series, earning the Open A Championship in Motocross. Wimmer continued his championship run in 2003, earning National Titles in both the 250A and the 250 Pro Am classes. This level of success proved that Wimmer was ready to turn pro, and he did in 2004. One of the youngest pros on the circuit, Wimmer was still able to compete near the top and finish 4th overall for the season. The 2005 season was more difficult for Wimmer, and he finished ninth overall in the Pro class. In 2006, 19-year-old Wimmer was runner-up to Doug Gust in the WPSA ATV MX series, and Suzuki quickly signed him to the factory team. He earned second-place overall again in 2007 in his first year aboard the Suzuki QuadRacer R450. In 2008, Wimmer returned to his title-winning form, as he captured the ATV MX Pro championship. His racing talent and hard work in the off-season led him to back-to-back championships, again clinching the title in 2009 in the AMA ATV MX Championship series. Dustin’s 2010 campaign will be his fourth year on the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team.

Born February 21, 1987. Single. Dustin Wimmer was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and now resides in Center Valley. One of the youngest ATV Pro MX champions, Wimmer’s success is due to equal parts riding skills and intense fitness. The 6-foot 3-inch tall Wimmer spends a good deal of time riding his road and mountain bicycles, both near his home and while on the road. And he relaxes with a not-so-physical round of golf.

RAciNg BiogRAPhy: The 2010 season will be the 24-year-old Creamer’s first season aboard the Rockstar Makita Suzuki QuadRacer R450. In 2009, Josh Creamer whipped up a lot of attention in the AMA ATV Pro class by putting the pressure on all the other racers in the series. By the end of the season, he won two of the 11 races that make up the series, including the notoriously tough Loretta Lynn’s final round in Tennessee. He earned fifth place overall in 2009 and has the potential to take charge and be at the top of the podium in 2010. He earned fourth overall in the AMA ATV National Motocross Series in 2008 with four podium finishes and two additional top-five finishes, and has a number of amateur titles under his belt.

For 2010 Yoshimura Racing is offering umbrella sponsorships to include all three race teams - Road Racing, Supercross/Motocross and ATV. For potential program partners, we have four basic programs for the following season. They are:

• Primary Sponsorship • Co-Sponsorship • Associate Sponsorship • Industry Sponsors

Involvement in racing teams is almost always specialized and recognizing that, the Yoshimura/Suzuki Racing Team is very flexible. We will listen to whatever Program Partners needs are and construct a program that fits. The following describe the basic levels to be used as your point of reference.

ActivAting your investment. Return ratios vary in different types of promotions and there is no sure way to calculate the proper amount of investment to properly activate the initial funding.

It is always best to promote internally at a ratio of 1.5 to 2.0. In other words - if you spend 500k on a sponsorship - it is most effective when backed up by 250k ~ another 500k in advertising and promotional dollars.
