483 BCE. Was born in the 5th century Also known as the Buddha. Historians dated his lifetime as 563 BCE. Through 483 BCEHe died in between 486 and 483

   He was the chief's son of a tribal group called the Shakyas..

Siddhartha wondered what he needed because there was something that he wanted in his life, this thing was Suffering.

The Buddha was meditating and fasting when he found enlightenment underneath a tree.

1). Suffering and unhappiness are part

of human life. No one can escape sorrow.

2).Suffering comes from our desires for pleasure and material goods. People cause their own misery because they want things they cannot have.

3).People can overcome desire and ignorance and reach Nirvana, reaching Nirvana frees the soul from suffering and from the need for further reincarnation.

4).People can overcome ignorance and desire by following an eight fold path that leads to wisdom, enlightenment, and salvation
