Dear Listener,
This program is intended to introduce you to the subtle and delightful art of pranayama. Since
pranayama is pleasant and soft, you need not force the breath, the mind, or the body to conform to
a rigid pattern. Be kind. Just draw the breath along, feeling its intrinsic quality. There is no need to
be impatient, frustrated, angry, or forceful with the breathing. The metaphors and images used in
the program need not be grasped too literally. If you are keenly attentive as the breath is moving
in and out, you're doing well. You're alive!
Please feel no need to do all of the exercises at once. Proceed gradually over months
of practice to cultivate the exercises. Seek out a qualified instructor if you have difficulty or
questions. If you have hypertension, pulmonary problems, or other health concerns, get the
advice of a physician before proceeding with the program.
Please familiarize yourself with the postures in these liner notes before listening to the
program. You may need to refer to the liner notes a number of times to get the details clear. The
breathing techniques themselves require much patience and practice before their subtletiesand delights present themselves.
