“FUN INVASION”

Treatment by Emiliano Cruz Lopez

I see “Fun Invasion” as a great tale to bring to life and entertain the audience with a narrative that references the Hollywood sci-fi movie genre of such classic films as ET and War of the Worlds and even more contemporary films like Divergent. This story is about the fantasy b e t w e e n t h e o r d i n a r y a n d t h e extraordinary. !!Grounded in what is not happening “before” the invasion, as much as what happens after - the narrative offers a great opportunity to explore some of the expressions of fun that comes from YoCrunch toppers .!

INTRO

1

THE STORYThe story is structured in 2 very distinct parts, the “before” and “after”.!!These differences are punctuated throughout with acting, visual elements and more subtle cues communicated with color and the energy of the actions.

2

THE STORYBEFORE!

!We see the characters going through the motions in a repetitive manner, lacking any joy, they are disconnected from each other and their surroundings. Cutaways show the slow drip of a faucet, a ticking clock a bored looking dog. !!Why are the residents of Plainsville so bored? have they become mental zombies from eating plain yogurt? It’s almost as if they are waiting for something to happen and it is clear that it will take something extraordinary to snap them out of this stupor.

THE STORYAFTER!

!Once the domes land, the world of Plainsville is forever transformed into fun, this means bright color and a cheery feeling everywhere. !!We see the sprinklers come on as people are snapping out of their boring trance and are connecting and enjoying each other. There is an explosion of colorful elements, flowers bloom and there is a bustle of activity.

MOODThe mood in the “before” part of the spot is slow and boring - it’s obvious in every aspect of the story. This changes to the extreme opposite to bright and happy in the “after”. !!An option to the black and white treatment for the “before” part of the spot is to desaturate the images and return to full bright color in the “after”. Without resorting to slow motion, we will make the movements feel slightly lethargic with a slower frame rate. When the “Fun Invasion” arrives everything returns to normal speed. Another way to heighten the difference is through art direction, wardrobe, hair and make-up. For example, prior to the invasion, mom’s hair may seem a little flatter, her make-up might be dull, in the “after” her hair suddenly has more volume and her lips and cheeks have a rosier look.

7

The key moment in this narrative happens when the residents of Plainsville look up and see the flying domes of YoCrunch toppers. FINALLY something is getting their attention! When these spinning, whirling UFO shaped domes approach Plainsville they are greeted with throngs of people who are now out on the streets, front porches and backyards - they now have a reason to cheer with joy. Kids, parents, pets - everyone is coming out to see what is going on.! !Even the family dog who has been lazily lounging suddenly perks up and he leaps up to grab one of the domes like a frisbee as they whiz by him. !!The result of this wonderful narrative we have built will culminate in the shots of our family eating and enjoying the YoCrunch yogurt - lot’s of smiles will communicate this.

REFERENCE

Stop Phubbing Around

This Coca Cola spot demonstrates how the use of variable speeds create different feelings throughout a narrative this is a good reference for the after joyful moments

REFERENCE

Drones

This is a great reference of drones gliding through the sky and their unique POV.

12

REFERENCEIn this Carnival spot we get the before and after in very subtle cues of camera, lighting, wardrobe, acting and situations.

It’s Mine14

A family home backyard in a typical generic suburban neighborhood that could be found anywhere.!The location will be dressed slightly differently for the “before” and “after” portions of the story.!!I think this would be great to shoot in Chile because they have gated community locations that look like typical suburbs anywhere in the US and the weather is perfect because it is currently summer. !Whiskey has offices in Chile and we have lots of experience shooting there,. With have wonderful resources in crew and the right International talent looks I am confident that we will have a great experience.

Camera movement will further reinforce the “before” and “after” of the narrative.!!In addition to the principal photography, a drone wil l fly over the Plainsvi l le neighborhood helping to capture everyday moments in suburbia.!!The camera on the drone will also afford us the ability to capture the domes POV in the flying formation. Using drones will make a huge difference, because it gives us a bird’s eye view and will give us a range of dramatic images. For example we can quickly move from a high perspective and float down into the backyard. !!All movements will be light and emulate the floating of the domes and 1950s sci-fi movie UFOs.

CAMERA

18

BEFORE!!Camera movements will be static and add to the feeling of lethargy, long lenses will make everything looks flat. The shots will have a symmetry that will also add to the dullness. Cut aways of a dripping faucet a leaf stuck in the gutter will all to the feeling of listlessnes.

CAMERA

19

AFTER!!!Camera movements and hand held will add to the dynamic quality and get in the middle of the action. Wider lenses give a sense of more light and camera angles have more energy.

PRODUCT DEMOYoCrunch dome tops flying though the air and landing on the ordinary yogurt cups will be created in studio and will recreate mom’s POV of the backyard table.!!The demo will be shot against a tabletop in studio where we can control lighting, camera speed to showcase the toppings falling beautifully into the YoCrunch cup.!!The final product will appear as a packshot with the variety of all YoCrunch cups against the image of the family backyard.!!On the studio day we will shoot the color corrected domes against green screen floating on filament this will be composited with the live action aerial drone shots.

POST PRODUCTION TEST

Test - aerial shot

We are proposing to work with DAOCHO a post production company based in Argentina, who I have worked with in the past. This is a preliminary test, to see what the movement of the domes through the air could be like.

Thank you for inviting me to share my ideas on how I see creating an engaging and entertaining narrative for YoCrunch “FUN INVASION”. !!I would like to continue to develop these ideas together and research more references to accomplish a memorable spot for YoCrunch “FUN INVASION.
