New Line Carries on Legacy

After months of planning the Kappa Alpha Psi and Phi Beta Sigma Chapters at UM presented the first ever ‘Red, White and Blue Barbe-cue.’ Named for the colors associated with both fraternities, the barbeque was held during Harmabee Weekend in the Apartment Area and saw all minority greek organizations rep-

resented from organization from the National Pan-hellenic Council (NPHC) and the National Associa-tion of Latino Fraternal Organiza-tions (NALFO) in a show of greek unity. Food and drinks were pro-vided by brothers of both fraternities free of charge to Harambee students.

Five young men were unveiled as Kappa men to the UM campus on the evening of March 27, in what was known as “The Requiem.” The neo-

phytes, known as the PHI-nal K.U.T. are the latest to bear the torch of Iota Chi. They include freshman, J’Verne Pickering, sophomores, Xavier Bow-

den and Tyler Koenig, and juniors, Colin McDaniels, and Julius McLean. Congratulations to the new NUPEs.
