Cheyenne Symphony Friends host An Evening in Tuscany!

It was a celebration! A radiant celebration in honor of Chey-enne’s 150th Anniversary, held at the Cheyenne Botanic

Gardens NEW Conservatory, the evening of August 12th.

The CSO was there to help commemorate this special ac-complishment in our city’s history. Helping to create a

perfect atmosphere amidst the beauty of nature and mas-terful architecture, and so many caring people, were mem-bers of the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra. The CSO Brass Quintet--featuring trumpets, Derek McDonald and Scott

Meredith; horn, David Hay; trombone, Daniel Watt; and tuba, Alan Harvey--welcomed patrons with festive tunes from their position just outside the front door. The String Quartet--with violins, Stephanie Garvey and Jean Farley; viola, Lauren Spaulding; and cello, Suzy Wagner--entertained from their position in the Orangerie as patrons enjoyed light appetiz-ers and drinks. Guests celebrated Cheyenne and enjoyed the opportunity for a sneak-peak at all the new Conservatory has to offer days in advance of the public Grand Opening.

Cheyenne’s 150th Anniversary:

Thank you Cheyenne Symphony Friends and all the friends of the

symphony who attended “An Eve-ning in Tuscany”, for making the night a great success! The August 3rd event held on the Little America patio was an evening full of good food, good music, and good friends. The sold-out event

raised over $4,000 in support of sym-phony operations.

In addition to a delicious four-course, Tuscan-inspired meal paired with Ital-

ian wines, Sonoma Trio serenaded din-ers throughout the meal. A silent auc-tion and a wine-pull raffle contributed to the evening’s fundraising success.

A special thank you to Cheyenne Sym-phony Friend and event organizer,

Wendy Owen. And our sincere thanks to Town and Country Supermarket Li-quors, Halladay Auto Group, Kuzma Success Realty, and Nick Fuerst for their generous support of the event.

Grazie Mille!

Saturday September 16, 11AM at the Paul Smith’s Children’s Village, children of all ages will de-

light in the performance of a Musical Storytime in the gardens. Join Cheyenne Symphony musicians and Aaron Sommers, story-teller extraordinaire, as they collaborate on a musical rendition of the children’s classic “Stellaluna” by Janell Cannon. Ex-ecutive Director, Lindsey Reynolds, will play English Horn with Cheyenne Symphony musicians Allyson Fleck, on viola, and Tom Bittinger, on bassoon as Aaron narrates.

The performance will be followed by a musical instrument petting zoo on the Children’s vil-

lage grounds and a bat-related craft activity in the Loew’s Discovery Lab. The musical instrument pet-ting zoo is sponsored by Niemann Music. Children (and their adults) can try out various orchestral instruments with assistance from East and Central High School students. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to play a [insert instrument of your dreams], grab a kid and give it a try or maybe just watch your children discover and explore their musical interests.

Children enjoy a Musical Story Time. September, 2016.
