YMCA DAY CAMPS For kids entering grades 1–6 Summer just wouldn’t be the same without the excitement and adventure of YMCA Day Camp. For nearly 30 years, central Ohio children have come together for a summer full of nature, water fun, games, cookouts, arts & crafts, and new friendships!

DAY CAMPS WITH SPORTS THEMES Sports themes, along with traditional activities, make this a great choice for any camper.

SPECIAlTY CAMPS For kids entering grades 1–10 (age varies) With a full range of age-appropriate activities, your young camper can do it all, under the careful supervision of our highly-trained camp staff.

CAMP CAN DO For individuals ages 6-21 with special needs Camp Can Do is a day camp for children and young adults who have moderate to intensive special needs. Camp activities are tailored to the unique needs of these individuals, and our staff consists of teachers from our local school districts experienced in working with children who have special needs.

TEEN ExTREME For kids entering grades 7–9 It’s more than your regular day camp...it’s a whole bunch of exciting activities designed especially for teens. Every day of your week brings a new and different adventure!

Kids love Usthere’s no place like the y for kids in the summer.

Professional Role ModelsOur day camp staff are selected based on their experience, attitude, skills and their ability to accept and demonstrate the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our Professional Role Models attend at least 24 hours of training covering topics including risk management, diversity and behavior management, YMCA Mission and Character Development, child abuse, games, skits and songs, sports education and team building.

Healthy FoodAt the Y, we believe in healthy living, which includes providing healthy snacks, and in some cases meals, to our campers. We strive to offer fresh fruit, vegetables and other nutritious snacks to our campers. Not all camps will provide snacks during camp hours.

Safety The American Camp Association™ (ACA) accredits each of our day camp programs. This independent body establishes standards for key aspects of camp operation, program quality, health and safety of campers. ACA™ accreditation includes an on-site visitation every three years. Additionally, many YMCA Day Camp staff are trained in CPR and First Aid.

Self-RespectOur goal: building self-respect through skill development for all campers. Camp provides worthwhile experiences such as creating unique and artistic crafts, finding animals in their habitat or learning how to properly kick a soccer ball. Camp counselors are trained to highlight teachable moments and emphasize accomplishments and successes in all campers.

BACK IN TIME Hop on board our time machine, we’ll be traveling back in time to old school games, pioneer arts, grandparents’ recipes and survival strategies that helped humans live off of the land. Come along for the ride!

CElEBRATE AMERICA Enjoy a week of Red, White and Blue. Learn about the USA and what makes us the melting pot of the world.

GAMES-GAMES-GAMES A week full of games and activities that focus on having fun, developing sportsmanship, and learning to be a team player. You’ll enjoy new games from variations on tag to Ultimate Frisbee®.

MYSTERIES, MAPS AND RIDDlES Can you figure it out? What’s that? Who did it? Where are we? Become a detective, discover new places and have fun with friends while trying to unravel the mysteries of camp.

SPlISH, SPlASH Splishin’ and splashin’ through five wet days — it’s time to get soaked through a series of water balloon games, sprinklers, slip-n-slides and more!

SUPER HERO ADVENTURE Is it a bird? No. Is it a plane? No. Is it going to be a great camp week full of costumes, super powers, and good deeds? Yes! Join us for this new theme where the adventures never stop.

SUPER SlIMY Get ready for a wacky week of icky, sticky, silly stuff that you create and play with. This isn’t for the light hearted; it goes way past your school science project! Come dressed to get dirty.

WORlD ExPlORER Ever wanted to visit a country, outer space or a new state? This week we will travel to different areas and see what the world has to offer.

CAMP REWIND Did you love all of the water games during Splish, Splash week? Did you want to be Super Slimy just one more time this summer? Then you’re in luck. Spend the last week of camp revisiting all of our favorite activities and games as we put the entire summer on rewind.

SPIRIT WEEK (WEEK 9: August 5-9) Meet and compete with all your fellow YMCA campers across Central Ohio! Teams will create banners, songs, cheers and mascots to promote their camp pride and present their camp at the Hoover YMCA Park for a day of grand fun with loads of other kids. This week includes a field trip to Hoover YMCA Park.

Fort BuildingFor kids entering grades 3-8 M: $150 Y/C: $165 N: $180Break out your tool box and come build with us! Help us design and build a fort while learning how to use tools safely. Spend a night camping out with your new friends in your newly-created fort.

Animal Adventures 1For kids entering grades 2-8 M: $150 Y/C: $165 N: $180We’ll handle animals here at camp, plus visit the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, and OSU’s Insectary. With a little luck and a lot of work, we’ll find plenty of wild animals to investigate as well.

Animal Adventures 2For kids entering grades 4-8 M: $200 Y/C: $215 N: $230This week we’ll be stepping it up a notch with an overnight camping trip to The Wilds, an open-air safari and a day of volunteering at a local animal shelter. Come learn about how you can play an active role in enjoying and protecting our animal friends.

Bridge Building For kids entering grades 3-8M: $150 Y/C: $165 N: $180Get hands-on and test your skills! Come spend a week building (and breaking) bridges as we work together to discover the best designs. Visit local bridges and learn from an engineer what goes into building.

Structure & Design 3 For kids entering grades 4-8 M: $200 Y/C: $215 N: $230Like to build and use your imagination? Then come play with building blocks, dominoes, and other things while pushing your brain to the limit. Pay a visit to COSI and work on your very own Rube Goldberg machine.

With a lump of clay in your hands, the possibilities are endless. We’ll explore ceramic art: digging the clay straight out of the ground, then throwing pots on the wheel and firing them in an open pit. Stay one night per week at the camp to fire our creations, enjoy good food and make new friends.

Alternative Arts 1For kids entering grades 2-8 M: $150 Y/C: $165 N: $180Come spend a week having fun with art! We’re not talking standard crafts, more like blenders, blow torches, bonfires, and chain saws! Using mostly sculptural techniques, we’ll explore some unusual ways to create art and meet a few artists.

Dance 1 & 2For kids entering grades 2-8 M: $150/wk Y/C: $165/wk N: $180/wkIn the first week, we will learn about dance fundamentals & a basic routine. In the second week, we will explore different styles of dance from around the world. Each week will conclude with a performance to share the fun with our families!

Alternative Arts 2For kids entering grades 2-8M: $150 Y/C: $165 N: $180Join us again for a week having fun with art like you never knew you could. During this second week of alternative arts, campers will enjoy an overnight stay at Hoover YMCA Park with an exciting pit-firing.

Advanced Alternative ArtsFor kids entering grades 3-8M: $175 Y/C: $190 N: $205Alternative arts are back and we’re cranking up the heat! Returning campers will cast their own metal sculptures and watch as their clay creations are pulled glowing hot out of a kiln. We’ll also head to an active art studio where we’ll see demonstrations by glassblowers and blacksmiths. This week will include an overnight stay at the camp for our traditional Raku firing.

Advanced Clay Creators For kids entering grades 3-8M: $200 Y/C: $215 N: $230After slip casting and throwing on the wheel, we’ll fire our artwork using the ancient Japanese technique of Raku. To get a look at a real life ceramic application, we’ll take a two-day trip, including a night of tent camping, to Amish country where we’ll tour a brick factory and have a chance to carve a few decorative bricks.

Test your limits in Adventure Camp! Focus on climbing in our first week. The second week will be an adventure in hiking and orienteering. Each week will include outdoor living skills.
