• In many ways Jay Rock’s ‘Hood gone love it’ music video screams out many of the typical conventions that build up a hip hop music video. The lyrics having direct correlation with the music video, Jay Rock and his crew in Compton “the hood” in which you could apply Andrew Goodwin’s theory that there is a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals which illustrates lyrics.

• Mainly performance based shots of the main artist Jay Rock and his crew nodding and waving to the camera, As well as hip-hop video’s conventionally being male predominant, so is this one. His posse again being a clear connotation of strength and status.

Though untypically like a hip-hop music video the women aren’t objectified and are viewed as equals which a opposes the theory of Voyeurism that women are there to be objectified and put there for male pleasure

This music video features a conventional style of a variation of shots, for example in this shot Dr Dre viewed from a low angle to enforce his power over the audience because he is view from a higher position than everyone else
