Yellowstone Preserve
The Last Best PlacePRESENTED FOR SALE BY EXCLUSIVE LISTING BROKER, MARTHA JOHNSON
“I ’m in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana it is love. And it ’ s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.”
~John Steinbeck“

Montana is often described as “The Last Best Place,” conjuring up visions of snow-capped peaks, green verdant meadows, crystal clear streams, and a wide variety of wildlife roaming the land. Big Sky’s Yellowstone Preserve is the true embodiment of all Montana has to offer, and is considered one of the finest properties in the Rocky Mountains. With more than 2.5 square miles of rolling meadows, water features, dramatic mountain vistas and old growth forests, this is the opportunity of a lifetime.
Located in the Yellowstone Eco-System, Yellowstone Preserve is full of wildlife including a resident herd of elk, moose, bear and is also located on the eagle migration corridor. With over a mile of the South Fork of the Gallatin River, the trout fishing is exceptional. One mile of Yellowstone Preserve borders the Gallatin National Forest for your private access to millions of acres of four wheeling, hunting, horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking. Two and a half miles of Yellowstone Preserve border the world renowned Yellowstone Club and the two properties also share a private access road.
This property ensures privacy yet is only 3 miles to the Big Sky Town Center offering dining, shopping, grocery store, movie theater, ice skating and weekly summer concerts. With 1580 acres and infrastructure for 9 home sites, Yellowstone Preserve gives you the canvas to develop your dream compound, and own a slice of the west that is still “wild”.
Yellowstone Preserve
“Montana should come with a surgeon general warning that it ’ s addictive. The sky is big and blue, and the air is always fresh and crisp and scented with pine. There’ s a frontier spirit, but also a calmness, beauty in the landscape that slows your pulse.”
~Robin Bielman

The Yellowmule Ranch is the first stop in
the collection. It has a multitude of panoramic
views to choose from as you plan the future
windowscapes. Upon arrival, you will appreciate
the view this ranch offers as you overlook the
First Yellowmule drainage, the covered bridge,
the mouth of the canyon, and the shimmer of
the town lights along the valley floor. To the
northwest, Lone Mountain and the Spanish
Peaks Range are on constant display.
Spend the afternoons exploring your secluded
access to the First Yellowmule valley and its trail
system leading to Ousel Falls and more than 1.8
million acres in the Gallatin National Forest. If
the babbling of a high mountain brook is more
to your liking, take one of the trails down to
1400 feet of private South Fork river frontage
where pools and riffles filled with westslope
cut throat trout will greet you.
Yellowmule Ranch
Ptarmigan Ranch
On Ptarmigan Ranch, seclusion and a mature stand forest of
lodgepole pines cradle this home site. Sprawling wildflower meadows
and grand views of Lone Mountain, the Spanish Peaks, and the mouth
of the canyon are standard here. Private trails will lead you down
to the historic South Fork bridge and fishing camp where you can
access your 3250 feet of private South Fork river frontage. Spend
the afternoon fly fishing the pools and riffles, home to the westslope
cutthroat and brook trout.
If a hike is more your cup of tea, you can spend the day exploring
the Ptarmigan Ranch’s 862 feet of vertical relief draped over its 160
acres of forest, wildflower meadows, aspen talus gardens, and a trout
filled river that flows through it all. Furry little pikas will take turns
playing hide and seek with you as you explore the talus garden… And
it won’t take long to realize this ranch was created with open arms
to both the river and the explorer that’s in you.
“For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver.” -
~Martin Luther “

Elk Sage Ranch
The gateway into the Elk Sage Ranch takes you through a mature stand of lodgepole pines where
the verdant forest floor covered in clover and mountain grasses greets you. To add to this sense of
invitation, a spectacular view of Lone Mountain beckons you to journey further down the meandering
driveway where you will be introduced to the Spanish Peaks Range. From here the next stop is the
home site where you will find privacy, possibly a fury neighbor passing through, and your very own
enclave.
If you are a nature explorer, the Elk Sage Ranch allows you to literally hike from the Yellowstone
Club to the Gallatin Preserve and never leave the boundary of the Ranch.
If privacy, seclusion, and abundant wildlife are
what you crave, visiting the Travertine Ranch
should be your next order of business- although
business will be the last thing on your mind.
The winding driveway transports the visitor to
a special place not visited by many before. The
lush, cascading meadows and open spaces are
perfect for occasional wildlife viewing of elk, bear
and even wolves. The mature lodgepole forest
stands guard around the home site with private
trails leading you to the many mesmerizing water
features the ranch offers.
You are physically only 10 minutes from the
theater, restaurants, and shopping in the town
center… but your mind and spirit will be lost in
the mystique of the Travertine Ranch.

The Firehole Ranch has its home site nestled
along the side of a mature stand of lodgepole
and whitebark pines with a spectacular view that
really opens up in dramatic fashion to reveal Lone
Mountain, Pioneer Mountain, and the Spanish
Peaks Range. The mountains in the front yard are
so close that it almost seems possible to reach
out and touch them.
Your neighbor is the prestigious Yellowstone
Club and there is plenty to explore with hiking
trails leading into the Club, the forest, and down
to more than 1670 feet of private river frontage.
This ranch has some of the most wildlife-abundant
meadows and springs the region has to offer.

South Fork Ranch
The South Fork Ranch is one of the top tier ranches within the Yellowstone Preserve collection. This ranch offers the discerning buyer the
biggest views, the largest acreage, and the greatest seclusion. It also has its very own private, gated emergency access into the prestigious
Yellowstone Club.
You can see just about everything in the South Fork Drainage from this gorgeous 310 acre Ranch. The breathtaking views unfold all around
you as you sit back and envision your future deck at 8525 feet above sea level. Cascading mountain ridges are off in the distance and hundreds
