Jesus revealed his glory to the three apostles in order to strengthen them for the journey ahead - the journey to Jerusa- lem, Gethse-mane and Golgotha. The same vision is today offered to us, to strengthen us in our Lenten Journey of Faith. Last week we heard about temptation: this week we are driven onwards by a vision of glory that will be ours - the goal of our lives of faith and all that we do as Christians. The transfiguration represents the final destination of our lives, if we are faithful in resisting temptation and living each day as faithful members of Jesus Christ. In our journey of renewal and new commitment through Lent, we are spurred on and encouraged by today's vision to see why the effort is worth it. Operation Rice Bowl Again this year MHR is participating in Catholic Relief Services Operation Rice Bowl this Lent. Our faith community will be joining millions of Catho-lics across the country. Pick up a Rice Bowl packet in the church this weekend. Operation Rice Bowl invites us to PRAY with our families and faith communities, FAST in solidarity with those who are hungry, LEARN about our brothers and sisters around the world, and GIVE sacrificial contributions to help those in need. Visit CRSricebowl.org for additional re-sources to use at home. Return your rice bowl by Monday, March 28, 2016.

Lent Regulations for 2016

1. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of abstinence from meat as well as days of fast, when only one full meal is al-lowed. On days of fast two other meatless meals may be taken according to one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. 2. The other Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat. 3. The obligation to abstain from meat be-gins at fourteen (14) years of age. 4. The obligation to fast begins at eighteen (18) years of age and ends at fifty-nine (59) years of age. 5. Although the faithful may excuse them-selves for just cause from these laws of fast and abstinence, there is an obligation to substitute another penance and no Catholic should lightly excuse himself/herself from this obligation in the Lenten season.

Easter Flower Envelopes

Please have your enve-lopes in by March 21, so they can be included in the Easter Flower Bulletin.

Polish Junior League of Massachusetts Scholarships

The Polish Junior League of Massachusetts will be awarding scholarships again this year. Scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate students and one scholarship will be granted to a graduate or return-ing student. Applications are available on line at www.polishjuniorleaguema.org. Students must be sophomores or above to apply. The deadline for completed applications is May 1, 2016.

When you enter the church, near the doors you will find a holy water font. The water is blessed and it is the first thing you do when you come into the church. Dip your forefingers of your right hand into the blessed water and make the Sign of the Cross. As you make the Sign of the Cross you should say, “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.” This is called blessing yourself.
