Wider28 th April 2015 Dear Parent/Carer, Year 9 Wider Learning Week I am writing to inform you about Wider Learning Week, which will take place from Monday 6 th to Friday 10 th July. This week is an opportunity for students to participate in an activity of personal interest, to develop their key skills, and to engage in wider learning. In putting together the programme, we have tried to ensure a range of activities at a range of costs. Many of the activities are free, and, where there is a charge, we have tried to minimise it. Your son/ward will be engaged on the same activity for all five days. Therefore, it is important that he is careful and serious about his choice (and reserve choices). Please note that if students are completing the bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s award, then that is their activity for the five days. What Next? Thoroughly read the information contained overleaf. Complete the online activity request form by Wednesday 6 th May. This will be emailed to you. You are required to select a first choice and up to two reserve choices (we will try to ensure first choice wherever possible). Payments If your son/ward is taking an activity that requires payments, these must be made to the front office. Further information will be issued by the member of staff leading the activity, once choices are confirmed. Arrangements will be in place to allow you to pay by instalments or by the full amount, but the final payment deadline for activities is Friday 12 th June. If your child is in receipt of free school meals, then the school is able to make a 25% contribution towards the cost of any of these activities. If this is the case, please indicate this on the online form.
