GCSE 3D Art
The Three Dimensional design course is challenging and demanding and uses a wide range of skills such as research, investigation and critical analysis.
GCSE Art and Design will enable you to build on your skills from Key Stage 3. The course will provide opportunities for
you to express yourself, develop confidence and self-esteem as well as improve presentation and develop an
awareness of the world around you.
You will improve your ability to handle, manipulate and experiment with a range of materials, artistic skills,

Textiles (Design and Technology)The Textiles covers a wide range of techniques and shows you how to use these to create high quality fashion and textiles based products.
If you were to choose Textiles you would need to be someone who enjoys being creative and working hard to turn ideas into practical objects. You should enjoy textiles as something that you would do in your free time and be prepared to work hard to create interesting and unique products.
During the course you will complete small projects in Year 10 to cover your understanding of a range of materials and techniques and a final major project in Year 11 based on a selection of starting points that you can choose from. The final non exam assessment is 50% of the final grade and the other 50% is one written exam on the methods, materials, processes and industrial practices within Textiles and Design Technology.

Examination:
To ensure the Sport Science course is robust and as
stretching as a GCSE it has an exam on reducing the risk of
sports injuries. You will have two opportunities to take the
exam in Y10, one in January, and the other in June. GCSE’s
only have one opportunity to sit the exam. This course will
therefore allow you to have the opportunity to re-sit if needed
to.
Coursework:
The Sport Science course is designed to allow you the
freedom to explore more deeply the things that interest you.
The teaching of the qualification will normally be through
theoretical work, learning skills and how to do things that
may be relevant to the world of work. A lot of the qualification
is assessed by coursework set and marked by your teacher.
This will be done throughout the duration of your two year
course. So if you like project work and practical theory, this is
the course for you.
