1260: Marco Polo went on his route to the east and china

• In this year Marco Polo went on his route to the east as his father and uncle had done when he was still young

• This led to the discovery of new places of the world and how different cultures were changed or met with other cultures

1278: In Thailand, King Ram Khamhaeng the most famous king of the Sukhothai kingdom was born

• King Ram Khamhaeng in Thailand was Born

• He was a major influence in Thailand as he created the Thai Alphabet which is a way of communication we use in Thailand

• He also created Stone Inscriptions that was a way of communicating also. It changed how we learn for a period of time and has changed history

1295: Marco Polo Returned to Venice with Discoveries he made from the East

• When Marco Polo returned from his voyage to the east he brought many discoveries back with him

• This event led the venetians to create their own things that were inspired by the discoveries

• An example is the creation of a famous dish in the world, Spaghetti it was created as another version of noodles which Marco polo discovered from China

1438: In Thailand the end of the Sukhothai Kingdom

• The Sukhothai Period was the first period in Thailand.

• The City Sukhothai was used as a battlefield in a war against the Burmese which ended the Kingdom

• This led to the founding of the Ayutthaya Period/Kingdom which was a major phase of development in Thailand

1452: Leonardo Da Vinci Was Born

• Leonardo Da Vinci was a major Renaissance Man.

• He changed Art and Architecture in the most creative ways and many of the inventions that he drew were then made into real products by people from a more modern time period.

• Many of his paintings took a high level of creativity and thinking

1476-1479: Christopher Columbus Embarked on 3 Voyages of

Discovery• Christopher was an explorer that discovered many other

parts of the world

• The reason that these changes are so important is that it links the world together and it got developed to how closely the whole world is linked today

• During these 3 years he traveled first to England, then to Iceland and then to Porto Santo in Portugal

1504: Raphael Finished the painting "Marriage of the Virgin"

• Raphael was one of the famous artists in the Renaissance also.

• When he painted “The Marriage of the Virgin” He was painting his own marriage.

• Just like other artists he changed thought creatively and made drawings with newer and better ideas

1508-1512: Michael Angelo makes the Sistine Chapel Ceiling

• The Sistine Chapel Ceiling was an art masterpiece by Michael Angelo

• Many people still go and see it because it was perfect.

• This showed lots of special things as it is still special and famous today

1510: Martin Luther Discoveries the Church is corrupt in its ways

• Martin Luther was a man who stood against the church that was then corrupt.

• He discovered the church was corrupt lost its Christianity ways.

• Doing this, he freed people from the power of the church that was corrupt and allowed them to do things to develop lifestyle that the church did not allow

1532: Niccolò Machiavelli’sbook the prince was published

• Niccolò Machiavelli was famous for his political views.

• He observed what was going on in leadership and his book explains everything.

• This changed the world as it was a new philosophy and way to think for leaders and those who wanted to become leaders.

• His book says that being a leader means you need to do whatever It takes to keep the power in a concept called “The end justifies the means”

• Sadly, leaders like Pol Pot, Adolf Hitler and Joseph Kony followed this concept in their ways.

1543: Nicolaus Copernicus a book about Nicolaus Copernicus's View of the Universe was published

• Nicolaus Copernicus was an astronomer who started the idea of the Heliocentric View on the Universe with the Sun being in the middle. This theory was later confirmed by Galileo Galilei

• The book about this view of the universe could have been what led Galileo to believe this

• This greatly benefits life today as it allowed us to have a more complex view of the universe and what it really is

1560: Sir Francis Drake Gained Command of His own Ship

• Sir Francis Drake is another explorer.

• He like all others, discovered there was more to the world.

• He travelled to many places and he would sometimes face dangerous situations during travel like another country’s military, shortage of food or a disease in his men

• All explorers do the same thing, but then why are so they so special?. Well they do something other people were afraid to do, they were curious and when they discovered something they studied them and sometimes improved them and some of these we use in modern day to make our lives easier.

1564: William Shakespeare was Born

• William Shakespeare was a play writer that wrote histories, comedies and tragedies. He was also a poet.

• He was a thinker that came up with famous plays and poems that today we still consider amazing.

• He also had a part in developing the English language which we all use in school today so with out him out school life would be different

1610: Galileo Discovered the our largest satellites of Jupiter

• Galileo was an Astronomer who created the first telescope and confirmed Nicolaus Copernicus’ Heliocentric view of the universe

• He then discovered the four largest satellites of Jupiter

• Today, we explore space to and further jupiter and with a telescope so without Galileo’s discoveries then we would not be able to do many things involving space.

1684: Isaac Newton Wrote his 3 books. Book 1 which explains the science of mechanics and how force controls motion, book 2 explains the theory of fluids and book 3 explains the laws of

gravity in the universe

• Isaac Newton was a scientist famous for discovering gravity.

• These books were his discoveries over years of study.

• His knowledge was passed down though this book so we can understand mechanics, force and fluids the way we do today.

• With this knowledge the world of science has been able to discover many more things and made many more things in our world possible
