Year 7 Art In Year 6 the National Curriculum outlines learning opportunities such as creating sketch books, completing observational drawings, using a range of techniques and media including pencil, charcoal, paint and sculpture (e.g. clay). Students should have also learnt about great artists and designers. In Year 7 you will learn how to: make effective use of composition in your work; build upon knowledge of colour mixing; learn the formal elements and develop observational drawing skills; develop knowledge and use of mixed media and clay.

Year 7 DT In Year 7 you will undertake three projects [One project per term. Lessons will be on alternate weeks – Either week on or week two. Your group will rotate to different staff.] Each project will produce physical products as outcomes. Each project will produce a design folio marked against the A.S.K assessments. You will take home your practical work when completed. Folio work will be stored in your ‘portfolio of evidence.’

Students will learn about manmade materials and jointing methods to be used with MDF. 1 Rub Joints .Students will continue to develop their design and make skills and manufacture a personalised storage unit.

Year 7 Lifeskills In Year 7 you will learn how to become more self-aware, to understand your feelings and how to manage your emotions. You will learn to build and maintain relationships with friends, to develop new friendships and belonging to groups. You will learn techniques to develop resilience. You will take part in the decision making within your communities and support your communities and environment. You will develop an understanding of risk in both positive and negative terms and that individuals need to manage risk to themselves and others in a range of situations You will explore different kinds of rights and obligations and how these affect both individuals and communities Further detail can be located in Unit overview sheets which begin each unit of work and will be stuck into exercise books at the beginning of topics, including the ASK trackers.
Brainstation event 13th & 14th December P1 to 4. There will be Career talks held in the library from a variety of guest speakers – please inform classes. FGM lesson occurs 2nd week of July. Some students may be withdrawn.
