Level 4I explore and develop my ideas through drawings from real life and my imagination.I develop my practical skills and choose the most appropriate materials and techniques to make my alien.I use research into the pieces by Yinka Shonibare to help me understand the ideas behind his work.

Writing is more about the facts of Shonibare’s life rather than the ideas behind the work. Evenso, the presentation is really exciting.

“Shonibare explores issues of race and class through a range of media.” (Thoughtful research but the presentation is disappointing.)

“Use tissue paper to create a base colour for your alien.”

Level 5I experiment with and explore the potentials of materials to plan future developments in my work.I have developed my practical skills and construction techniques and can choose the most appropriatetools and materials to make my alien.I have researched the work of Yinka Shonibare and can see how his work illustrates his ideas.I refine my work so that it expresses my ideas.

I evaluate my work and use my critical understanding to develop my own views and practical work.
