EOTC Guidelines

Education outside the classroom EOTC provides opportunities for a vast array of

positive outcomes in a student’s education

• Ministry of Education Guidelines will be adhered to

• Health and Emotional Safety is paramount• Supervisors will have clearly identified roles

and responsibilities within their capabilities• Competent instructors are used for activities • There is no place for alcohol on a school

Location • Kawau Island is one of the larger islands that

make up the Hauraki Gulf and can be found 8kms off the coast about 45 km north of Auckland. The climate is sub-tropical with majority of the island covered in bush.

• We catch a Ferry from Sandspit near Warkworth.

• Camp Bentzon is located on a 29 acre block on the shores of North Cove

Parent Help• Two Teachers

• Need 16 Parents (dependent on fishing option)

– Health Person (First Aid Qualifications)– Sailing/kayaking experience– Keen, experienced Boaties (Skipper’s Licence)– Abseiling experience– Chef extraordinaire

Transport & Accomodation

• We will travel in cars – Approx 15 cars @ $60.00 per car– Ideally 4 boats for fishing @ $150.00

• Kawau Cruises– Kawau Kat $1534– Transfer to Mansion House $ 784

Accomodation at Camp Benzon – $16.30 per person per night x 4 nights x 64 people =

$4387.80

Cost of Camp

• Approx. $335 per child

• Work day will collect $30 or more per each child.

• Please start payments now.
