Monday 8th June 2020 – Factors and
Multiples
Factors
"Factors" are the numbers we can multiply together to get another number:
in 2x3=6,
2 and 3 are factors
2 and 3 are factors of 6
The numbers 1 and 6 would also be factors of 6 ( 1 x 6 = 6 )
A number can have many factors or it could only have two...

Multiples
A multiple is the result of multiplying a number by an integer
in 2x3=6,
2 and 3 are factors
6 is a multiple of 3
6 is a multiple of 2

Watch the video on SWECET youtube channel
on how to find a number’s factors.
Now try:
What are the factors of 18?
What are the factors of 30?
What are the factors of 76?
Check your answers on the next page.

Tuesday 9th June 2020 – Revising
Equivalent fractions
Equivalent Fractions have
the same value, even
though they may look
different.
They may have been cut
into a different number of
pieces, but they have the
same value.
![Page 11: Year 5 Maths Week 9fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/FileCluster/...Year 5 Maths Week 9 Week beginning 8th June 2020 Remember to go on TT Rockstars as well! You try these:
![Page 12: Year 5 Maths Week 9fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/FileCluster/...Year 5 Maths Week 9 Week beginning 8th June 2020 Remember to go on TT Rockstars as well! Look at these:
Now you try these
two.
Knowledge of times
tables helps here. We
know 5 x 3 is 15.
Follow the rule, what
you do to the
denominator, you do
to the numerator.

Wednesday 10th June 2020 – Adding
fractions
To add fractions there are ‘Three Simple Steps’:
Step 1: Make sure the bottom numbers (the denominators) are the same
Step 2: Add the top numbers (the numerators), put that answer over the
denominator
Step 3: Simplify the fraction (if needed)
![Page 20: Year 5 Maths Week 9fluencycontent2-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/FileCluster/...Year 5 Maths Week 9 Week beginning 8th June 2020 Remember to go on TT Rockstars as well! Thursday 11th June 2020 – Subtracting
fractions
Subtracting fractions is similar to adding as you also need to make the denominators the same.
If the denominators are already the same, you just subtract the numerators.
Remember the rhyme?
♫ "If adding or subtracting is your aim,
The bottom numbers must be the same!
♫ "Change the bottom using multiply or divide,
But the same to the top must be applied,
♫ "And don't forget to simplify,
Before its time to say good bye"
