TO PRINT

We have tried to identify the key pages to be printed out as we realise this pack contains a lot of pages.

Printing in black and white would also be an option.

If we were at school, we would have had a busy week this week with the Mini Olympics and our residential trip to Burwell. We are all sad that these cannot happen this year, but Burwell has been booked for you to go next summer, in year 5, and we have some exciting activities from

them for you to try at home.

We also have new topic activities for you to try on Ancent Greek life and

architecture and many more!

Spanish. Send this to [email protected]

Practise a few times before filming.

Ejercicio cuatro

Play a game; El Juego de las Siete Familias (The Game of Seven Families or Happy Families,

as we know it.)

How to play

Print and cut out the seven sets of cards. Laminating will make them last longer. Shuffle the cards. For 3 or more players (ideally 4 as there are 28 cards)

The dealer gives each player the same number of cards. The remainder are put into the pool. The player to dealer's left begins. He/she asks another player for a specific card in Spanish and must already hold at least one card of the same family. If the player asked has the card it must be handed over and the asker continues by asking the same or another player for another card. If there is a pool, the player can take a card from there instead of asking another player. The turn then passes to the player on their left. If the asked player does not have the wanted card the turn passes to them. The player asking for a card must say "please", and a player receiving a card must say "thank you". Anyone who forgets to do this must give back the requested card (if it has been handed over) and the turn passes to the player they were asking. Completed families are placed in front of the owner. The player with the most completed families wins.

Make your own Ancient Greek temple - Have a go at creating your own version of the Parthenon.

You could use this tutorial to build a 3D cardboard model:

http://www.stormthecastle.com/paper-castle/parthenon/the-parthenon-version3.pdf

Use watercolour paints or wavy strips of different coloured paper to create a background and then use white paper or card or art straws to create a silhouette of the Parthenon.

You could build the Parthenon out of Lego!

Or how about building it in Minecraft?

Find an image of a close-up section of the Parthenon, print out the image and use the tracing and shading techniques we used at school to draw Stonehenge.

Junk modelling – can you recycle cardboard boxes and tubes to create the Parthenon?

ICT animation – Using Purple Mash 2animate

What is you favourite animation or cartoon? Why?

Think about different styles of animation – some cartoons look like simple pictures; some animations are very lifelike and detailed. Compare Peppa Pig and Frozen for example!

Animations are created using a series of pictures. You might have 24 picture per second of film! Our brain holds onto an image for a fraction of a second after the image has passed. When our eyes see a series of images very quickly one after the other, because our eyes cannot cope with fast-moving images, they are tricked into thinking that the images are moving.

Can you make a simple animation using a note pad or post-it note pad?

Before digital images were used, all the animations would be drawn by hand – a very time-consuming activity. Most of the images for animations today are created using computers.

Using “2 animate” on Purple mash to create a simple animation.

Use the mouse or touchpad to draw in the large white square. Start by animating a simple face. When you have drawn your first frame, drag the image to copy it into frame 2 and then add to it so you don’t have to start from scratch. Then drag frame 2 into frame 3 and add more.

Click on the plus sign to add a frame if you need an additional one and the minus sign to delete one of the frames if you are not happy with the image.

Click on the green for ‘go’ arrow key at the top of the page to animate the frames. Use the icons at the top of the page to speed up and slow down the animation or to pause and stop it and return to the previous screen.

To make my character “wave”, repeated frame 7 and frame 8 by dragging them and copying them.

Experiment and create your own animations. It could be something growing or moving across the screen.

We would love to see what you create!

Resources to support transition back to school or continuation of home learning

Our children have all been through an incredible amount over the past few weeks and our experiences of lockdown – both the highs and the lows - will have varied greatly. Advice from professionals is that communication and preparation are key for supporting children at this time. With this in mind, we have found and developed some resources to support children and families with transition – whenever that may be.

1) My Lockdown Experience – sheet included in all learning packs w/c 1st June and available from the school website. Please use this as a discussion tool with your children when it is their moment to begin thinking about coming back to school. The themes of this sheet will form some circle-time discussion with the children on their return.

2) Social story – ‘What is happening?’ – available on the school website – for all children explaining schools partially re-opening for some children.

3) Social story – ‘Coming Back to School’ – available soon on the school website – for all children who are returning – please select the version which matches your child’s allocated ‘bubble’.

4) Assemblies by Mrs Wilcox – one for children returning and one for children continuing to learn at home – available after half term on the school website.
