Vocational History

January 1975 to October 1976: Resident Medical Officer Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane.

October 1976 to June 1983: Medical Superintendent Tara District Hospital, Tara, Qld; 1976 to 1979

Sole practitioner in this shire of approximately 5000 patients with general medical duties as well

as obstetric, surgical and anaesthetic responsibilities. Government Medical Officer (State) and

Commonwealth Health Officer. Duties included forensic work and coronial post-mortem

examinations.

October 1983 to April 1993: Private Medical Practitioner Capalaba Surgery, 151 Old Cleveland Rd

Capalaba 4157; Established branch practices on Lamb Island and Macleay Islands in Moreton

Bay in 1984 and serviced these practices by boat. First doctor to practise on these islands.

1984 to 1995: Government Medical Officer Brisbane Southside. Forensic duties including Officer of

the Court with respect to assaults, sexual assaults, rapes, homicides and other criminal charges

involving violence or alcohol/substance abuse. Member of the South Pacific Area Police Medical

Officer’s Association.

April 1993 to current: Private Medical Practitioner Capalaba General Practice, 5 Larbonya Crescent,

Capalaba, Queensland.

February to September 2006: Worked part time at Greenslopes Plastic Surgery performing skin

cancer examinations for the plastic surgeons at the facility.

Teaching

2005-current: Supervising undergraduate students from time to time in clinical attachments from

the Medical School of Griffith University and the University of Queensland.

2007-current: Founder and Director, Skin Cancer Audit Research Database (SCARD). Provision of self-

audit tool to clinicians treating skin malignancy. Recognised as an educational activity by both

the RACGP and ACRM for Category 1 CME points. Currently over 450,000 specimens recorded

from over 600 doctors. Increasing by over 50,000 specimens per year.

2008-2013: Senior editor Skin Cancer College Australasia Skin Cancer Blog (over 250 cases posted

with a new original educational post at least every 2 weeks).

2014 to current: Coordinator and Course Director, IMED7001 Master of Medicine (Skin Cancer)
