ASSESSMENT Therearethreemodesofassessmentatyear10.1.AssessmentTasksAgradewillbeawardedforspecifictasksandprojects.Thegradesindicatehowwellthestudentisperformingintheseareasoftheunit.Therewillbeaminimumofthreeassessmenttasksforeachunit.Assessmenttaskscanincludemajorprojects,topictests,writtenreports,oralpresentationsandfolios.Agradewillbeawardedforeachtask.Tosatisfactorilycompleteaunit,astudentmust:a. Completeallassessmenttasks.b. ObtainagradelessthanaPinnomorethanoneassessmenttask.2.LevelofAchievementagainstStatewideLearningStandardsIn2018,MullaunaCollegewillbeassessingtotheVictorianCurriculumstandards.ThisframeworkidentifieseightlearningareasandfourgeneralcapabilitiesforthePreptoyear10curriculum.TheLearningAreasdescribedistinctdisciplines,whilethecapabilitiesrepresentknowledgeandskillsthataredevelopedandappliedacrossthecurriculum.TheVictorianCurriculumincludesstandardsattenlevels.Thelevelbroadlyassociatedwithschoolingatyear10isLevel10.Studentachievementwillbereportedagainsttheachievementstandardsindicatingthelevelofattainmentreachedbyeachstudentandtheageexpectedlevelofattainment.WorkHabitsStudentsareassessedintheWorkHabitsofEffort,ClassBehaviourandOrganisation.

HOMEWORK Homestudyreinforcesthedevelopmentofskillsinorganisation,planningandself-managementthatarecrucialinassistingstudentstobecomeindependentlearners.Itisexpectedthatstudentsinyear10willcompleteaminimumof8to10hourshomeworkperweek.Studentsshouldsetasideregulartimesintheweekthatwillbestsuittheirscheduleofactivities.Thistimeshouldbeusedtoensurethatallrequiredwork(sethomework,incompleteclasswork,assignments,andtestrevision)iscompletedandsubmittedforassessmentbytheduedate.MathematicsandGermanrequireregularpractice,and,forEnglish,itisessentialthatthereadingofsettextsandindependentlyselectedbooksisanightlypractice.AStudentHomeworkandStudyPlannerisprovidedforeachstudenttofacilitatetherecording,organisationandmanagementofhomework.Parentscanassistthisprocessbyregularlycheckingthathomeworkhasbeenrecorded.ThisCourseInformationBookletshouldbekeptinasafeplaceforreferencethroughouttheyear.LikethePlanner,itassistsstudentsinmonitoringtheirprogress

CONSPIRACIES OF THE 20 T H CENTURY OverviewContentInthelast70yearstherehavebeenanumberofeventsandsituationsthatsomepeopleclaimwerenotquiteastheyseemed:theassassinationsofJohnF.KennedyandMalcolmX,themoonlandingandtheeventsof9/11tonameafew.Theseclaimsbecameconspiracytheories.Peopleclaimthattheseeventsandsituationswereactuallyarrangedbygroupsofpeople,governmentsorclandestineorganisationssuchastheIlluminati.Thiscourseprovidesstudentswiththeopportunitytoexploresomeofthesetheories,lookingattheevidenceavailable.Studentsalsodevelopanunderstandingofthemodernworldfrom1945tothepresent,withanemphasisonsomeofthekeyeventsofthisperiod.TopicsmayincludetheassassinationofJohnF.Kennedy,themoonlanding,9/11,Area51andtheHolocaust.KeySkillsOncompletionofthiscourse,studentsareableto:
