Investigating the most suitable materials for a building castle.

Looking at the types of materials which were around in the past and how they are

different from now.

Drawing a self portrait and looking at portraits of kings and queens.

Making a drawbridge. Making a personal coat of arms.

English

Reading and acting out traditional tales and fairy tales.

Writing own versions of traditional tales. Writing information about castles.

Asking questions about castles and researching in books or on the internet to find answers.

Writing questions about castles. Designing own stamps.

Researching information about castles. Making a castle scene making backgrounds and characters.

Maths

Focus on fractions and place value with numbers within 100.

Exploring shape and measures with a focus on telling the time, position and direction and

money. Counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to help us with

learning multiplication and division.

Making music from everyday objects around the house and thinking about if

they make a high or low sound.

Maths

Using smaller coins to add and give change. Collect money in money box and go to shop to

spend. Practise writing numbers, making sure they

are the right way round. Playing board games, dominoes and card

games to reinforce number work.

History/Geography Visit a castle to see what life would

have been like e.g. Leeds Castle, Hever Castle.

Find out information from books or internet about what life was like in

castle times.
