Science In the first half term the pupils are learning: • About different materials and placing them into groups • About different types of animals In the second half term pupils will learn: • About different materials and how they are used. Computing During this term the pupils will learn: • To find different images on the internet and save them. History / Geography During this term the pupils will learn: • How transport has changed over time and how it might look in the future. • About Frank Whittle and how he designed transport in Coventry. • To explore a map of Coventry and to think about how different transport is use for different journeys. Faith and Belief During this term the pupils will: • Learn about places that are special in different faiths. Art and Design During this term the pupils will learn: • To develop their drawing skills by using pencils to draw images of transport from photos and first hand experience. • To draw from observation Foreign Languages During this year the pupils will learn: • To say different greetings in Spanish. PE During this term the pupils will learn: • To develop basic ball skills • To use a racket and bat to strike a ball. At St Christopher Primary we plan the children’s learning very carefully. The learning that takes place over a theme can vary slightly from the original plan to take account of children’s interests and abilities. Curriculum Extras! As part of our curriculum, we explore all sorts of elements of the arts. During each theme children are able to explore and learn about a different painting or photograph, a piece of music and an important person. PE Kits The children will be taking part in indoor and outdoor sessions throughout the year. Home Learning
Reading Books Children will bring reading books home on a regular basis. Please support them with reading at home. For more information, please read the information on the inside of the reading diary. Spellings These will be sent home on a Wednesday. Please support the children with practising these words at home. Home Learning Challenges On a Friday, the children will be given a learning challenge to be completed independently out of school. The children will be able to share what they produce with their class and teacher on the following Friday afternoon. ONLINE LEARNING Purple Mash / I am Learning All children have individual logins for two online learning websites called Purple Mash and I am Learning. These sites will be introduced to the pupils in Year 1 very soon. The link for these sites is on the front page of the school website.
