Maths – Place value (counting to 100)

White Rose Maths have provided a video tutorial to support you in your Learning from Home:

https://vimeo.com/430314213

Challenge: Can you count all the way to 100?

This video might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TgLtF3PMOc Can you count backwards from 100 to 0?

How quickly can you do your counting?

Maybe you could try this every day and time yourself to see how much you

improve but make sure you don’t miss any numbers!

You could try writing all the numbers out to help, if you would like to.

Try counting in

10s as a

reminder of the

order of numbers to 100.

LO: To understand plants.

This week in Science we will be looking at

the life cycle of a plant.

We would like you to demonstrate

your understanding of the life cycle of

a plant.

You can do this based on something

you are growing at home or maybe

your favourite tree.

How you show us your understanding

of a plant’s life cycle is totally up to

you - be as creative as you like!

You might like to:

draw the different stages & label

write about the life cycle

use the internet to find photos of

your plant during its life

film yourself explaining the

different stages.

Or you could use the sheets below

and arrange the pictures of an apple

tree and sunflower into the correct

order.

Life cycle of a sunflower

We know many of you have been keen gardeners

whilst at home and we have enjoyed seeing photos of

the things you have been growing and how they are

changing, on twitter.

A plant always starts off as a seed, or sometimes a

bulb. But where do the seeds and bulbs come from?

would like you to use the link below. There are

two videos to watch and a quiz.

LO: To know how to keep my body clean.

As one PSHE session this week we would like you to

think about hygiene and social distancing.

What do these words mean?

Why are they so important?

Here is a song to

help remind you

how to wash your

hands:

https://www.youtu

What is Hygiene?

Watch this video clip to find out why it is so

important to maintain good hygiene and

regularly wash our hands:

Here is another video clip to watch to

learn how to wash your hands properly:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08

This is another way in which we can stop

the spread of germs and keep others

happy and healthy.

Why is it so important?

Watch this video clip to discover more

about the term social distancing

What is social distancing?

Watch this video clip to discover more about the term

social distancing:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/51989370

So at the moment we’re not standing close to others or

having play dates because we want to keep our germs to

ourselves and not share them.

We’re just trying to keep everybody else healthy.

We need to stay two metres away from people who we

don’t live with.

We would like you to create a poster to explain to others what they

need to do in order to stay safe and prevent the spread of germs.

Don’t forget to include:

Hand washing

Good hygiene

Catching sneezes

Social distancing

We would love to see your posters so please do share them with us

on Twitter!

that some of the children might enjoy learning a few facts from.

Dear Diary,

This morning I was sat in my

bedroom with my pet dinosaur

and we were feeling bored. We

had no games to play and just

wanted something fun to do.

You can use the writing frame below or

present your diary entry however you prefer.

First I got up and

brushed my teeth.

Afterwards I ran

Wednesday 24th June

LO: To share what I think and feel with

confidence.

As part of your PSHE learning we would like

you to think think about and discuss your

feelings.

Over the next few days some children will be returning back at

school and some will be staying at home. It is all a bit different

to what we are used to but it’s really important to talk about

how we are feeling and to make sense of all of our different

emotions.

Everyone has different feelings and all of them are okay.

As part of PSHE Challenge today we would like you to talk to

your families, friends or teachers about how we are feeling.

We would like you to watch the video, ‘While

we Can’t Hug.’ See link below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PnnFrP

aRgY

Talk about the video and how it makes you

feel. Discuss ideas for the things we could do

to make other people and ourselves feel

happy while we have to stay socially distant.

We would like you to complete the rainbow sheet below.

Draw a picture of yourself underneath the rainbow and try to draw yourself how you

appear when you are feeling your happiest. We would love to hear more about the

things you have enjoyed whilst being at home and what you are most looking

forward to when you are able to return to school.

Here is a song to help us

understand our feelings

https://www.youtube.com/w

atch?v=UsISd1AMNYU

How many different feelings

are mentioned in the song?

Some feelings can make you feel great inside and other feelings

can make you feel terrible. These are called negative feelings.

Can you make a list of those feelings that make you feel good and those that don’t?

Discuss

What could you do if you were experiencing negative

feelings?

What could you do if you could see someone was

experiencing negative feelings?

We know there must be people you are missing right now.

Can you think of different ways you could make them, smile, without

even seeing them?

You might like to try to quiz on

feelings based around characters

from the film ‘inside out’

A photo montage is a collage made from photos.

The artist takes several images - on a theme - and arranges them to

form a picture.

Your challenge is to create your own photo montage story.

1. First decide on your theme or subject:

Portraits work really well for this so maybe you could use family member – maybe even your pet! You could show them playing a board game, a game outside or even splashing in the paddling pool!

Or your theme could be your garden, a walk that you go on or something completely different that you have thought of…

2. Collect your selection of images:

If you have access to a phone or tablet, take lots of photos of your subject. Take photos from different angles. Don’t worry if they move – it all adds to the effect

3. Create your montage:

Using an app such as PicCollage (lots of you know how to use this from school) select, crop and arrange your photos to create your very own montage. Try out different arrangements until you find the one you like best.

Famous examples have been created by the artist David Hockney - a significant British artist who uses photo montage in some of his work. Hockney refers to his photo collages as “Joiners” because he joins lots of smaller images together. He realised that the collection of images tells a story because it shows time passing as people or objects move.

No worries if you haven’t got the Tech!

An alternative method is to draw and paint your own collection of images and then stick them onto a background. Cubist artists such as Picasso were doing this long before Hockney! Try drawing your subject from different angles, for example a face looking straight at you and then looking to the side (this is called a profile). Cut them up and mix them up on your page. Use pencil, paint, felt tips, crayons – whatever you like. You could even cut images out of a magazine.

Don’t worry if your finished picture looks a bit strange – it’s all about having a go at something new. We can’t wait to see some of your work so please share it either on Twitter (by tagging @GorseyBank or your group’s Feed), on Microsoft Teams or by emailing it to [email protected]
