2. 2. AKA the cold-rain process A mixture of water droplets, supercooled water, and ice crystals inside a cold cloud. The cloud has low vapor pressure which allows ice crystals to grow at the expense of supercooled water.
3. 3. Because ice crystals have a lower saturated vapor pressure than the supercooled water, it grows at their expense. Mixed clouds are in between the lower vapor pressure of ice and the vapor pressure of water. This creates a supersaturated environment for ice crystals to grow.
