Homework needs to be handed in every Friday morning. 1. If possible, find a quiet place for your child to complete homework 2. Make sure they have the necessary equipment. Ask a teacher if you need any additional resources. 3. Remind them to name and date their work. 4. If your child has any difficulties completing homework, please tell the classroom teacher either by contacting school in person, by telephone or via the homework diary. Please remember you are very welcome to visit your child’s classroom!

Curriculum Information

Summer Term 2015

PE KitsPE is a very important lesson for our children. Please ensure your child brings their PE kit every Monday and Thursday (class 7) and Monday and Wednesday (class 8). We are monitoring children who repeatedly do not bring their kit and parents will be informed.

French:We will be learning the names of differentschool subjects, recreational activities andhow to say what we like and dont like doing.

PE Children will experience a variety of athletics and gymnastics.

Art Some of this will be linked to our history topic. We will learn how to replicate different Ancient Egyptian artefacts using clay and other materials.The children will create landscapes using water colours and carry out observational drawings.

RE We will be looking at Sikhism, including the importance of different symbols, the role of a Guru and how this religion was formed.

PHSE:The PSHE theme for Year 3 this term is, It is good to be me.

ICT The children will learn how to make comics online and will look at simple programming.

This term we are learning

English We are looking at different non-fiction texts including: instructions, chronological reports and balanced arguments. These will be based on the Ancient Egyptians. Also, we will be writing our own stories with a moral, based on the carry-on-cats characters which is linked to behaviours for learning.

Mathematics In Maths, we will be revisiting formal methods of multiplication, division, addition and subtraction as well as learning how to solve different problems involving these operations. Later on, we will construct our own bar charts, interpret different data and learn about the properties of 2D and 3D shape.

Science We are learning about living things including plants and animals. Thechildren will be carrying out their own science investigations to look into the best conditions for growth and how pollination happens.

History In History, we are learning all about the Ancient Egyptians. We will be studying mummification, the pyramids, the River Nile, Tutankhamun and Howard Carters search.

The PSHE themes for Year 3 this term are good to be me.
