Waunakee's Memorial Day Parade &Ceremony will take place on Monday, May29th. The parade will line up at 10am at theWaunakee Fire Station Parking lot. Starting at10:30am, participants will march east downMain Street, turning at Cross Street and endat the American Legion building, 417 E. MainSt. The Honor Ceremony will be held at theLegion Post #360 this year instead of theVillage Park Veteran's Memorial. A pot lucklunch will follow at the American Legion Hall. All are welcome, please bring a dish topass. In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, the Chamber office will be closed Monday,May 29th.

Depot Days 2 day event to celebrate Spring kicked off with the Wine Walk on Friday,May 19th. After a gloomy start to the day, the skies cleared up in the late afternoon! With a slight chill in the air several hundred enthusiastic wine walk tasters made it outto Shop, Sip, & Stroll around town with their "Passport" to over 20 memberbusinesses. Congratulations to Dee Wasylik who collected her stamps, turned in herpassport and won the drawing for the Drumlin Ridge Wine Basket.

The purpose of the wine walk is to invite the community to visit Waunakee's shoppingdistrict, highlight local businesses and give the public the opportunity to meet thebusiness owners and operators during this fun event to celebrate Spring!

Saturday was a different story because of Mother Nature. Rain was persistent all daylong keeping many people at home. Businesses were open, the kids scavenger huntwas ready to roll, but you couldn't blame people for not wanting to venture out! We didhave a few brave souls head out into the rain to collect their passport stamps to enterinto the drawing for the $200 WaunaBUCKS Shopping Spree. Congratulations todrawing winner Brenda Schueller and thank you for supporting Depot Days! All in all, Depot Days was a success and the Chamber is committed to planning thesetype of events that help build community and highlight our local business community. Chamber Awards Two Scholarships at Senior Honors Program The Waunakee High School Senior HonorsProgram was held May 10th in the High SchoolPAC. Many of the over 65 scholarships/awards aregiven by contributions from community groups andbusinesses. The Chamber is honored to be a partof this and awarded $1000 scholarships to thisyear's Chamber scholarship winners, BraydenJohnson and Danny Steinl. Along with the Chamber's mission of creating an environment in which businesses canprosper, we also carefully consider what the community needs and how we canparticipate in making Waunakee a great place to live, work, raise and educate ourchildren. In developing a strong spirit of giving back, we must hope that the GraduatingClass of 2017 will go out into the world, and contribute in a meaningful way. The Chamber supports education and recognizes not only academic achievement inchoosing our scholarship winners, but we also look at the student's commitment togiving back to their community. Members On The Move The 13th edition of the Community Magazine completed by thefifth grade students in Jacqueline Wells' class is available atthe Public Library, The Waunakee Chamber and Tribuneoffice. Learn about hometown heroes that live or work inWaunakee and touch the lives of many in our community. Thisproject originated from Tribune photographer RogerHamilton's vision to bring photojournalism to students and hasgrown from a small classroom project to a full­fledgedcommunity magazine. Parents assisted with interviews andSuttle Straus donated all the printing services.
