Happy New Year Everyone!

WOW! Did you hear those kids praising His name during our Sunday School Worship Ser-vice? YOU ALL ROCKED- from your speak-ing parts to your singing you did a fabulous job- we received many complements on your per-formance! WAY to Praise Him! Thank You!

Now on to starting off 2018-

Sunday School is back in session starting January 7th. We can’t wait to hear how your holiday’s were spent with your family etc.

Parents/Teachers watch for upcoming dates for worship singing. We have some great selections picked out for the next few weeks to be working on in our music time.

Also, talk with your children on ideas for our offering use- we would like to hear some of their ideas before making a decision on how to use their generous giving.

You All Rocked!

Pearl: When the clock struck 12 on New Years Eve, I said to myself, “Pearl, everything is coming your way!” Earl: That’s a great way to start the New Year Pearl! What did you do after that? Pearl: I quickly pulled into the correct lane!

A Bad Dream? Jane was taking an afternoon nap on New Year's Eve before supper. After she woke up, she confided to Max, her husband, 'I just dreamed that you gave me a diamond ring for a New Year's present. What do you think it all means?'

'Aha, you'll know tonight,' answered Max smiling broadly.

At midnight as the New Year was chiming, Max ap-

proached Jane and handed her a small package. De-

lighted and excited she opened it quickly. There in her

hand rested a book entitled: 'The meaning of

dreams'.

OOPS!

Lastly- THANK you parents and Good Shepherd family for continuing to pray for the Sunday School ministry daily. We appreciate your prayers and if you have ideas to help us grow- please share them with us. Many hands make light work!

Yours in Christ

Praise God the event in India went great. Thank you for all your prayers. Over 5,000 widows and widow-ers came to the event. Even under the watchful eyes of the local prime minister and other Hindu Gov-ernment officials, Raj and the evangelist team were able to bring the gospel to the people.

Thank you for all the prayers, gifts for the children, funds for wells, and funds to buy gifts for orphans, slum Children, widows, lepers, and for helping us spread the hope of Jesus Christ.

Hope everyone has had a safe and happy holiday sea-son. I’m sure the kids are all rested up and ready to

be back at it for the new year! The end of second quarter is just around the corner. Cannot believe the school year is ½ over this month!! The most fun week of the year falls in January for the stu-dents. This is the last week of the month and it is called NLSW (National Lutheran School Week) and there are lots of activities for them that week. There is a different theme each day and they really look for-ward to it. This year is a little different as they usual-ly have a special treat and program on that Friday for a VIP guest. This year, their Andes Tower Hills Ski Day falls on that Friday, so the VIP day is planning on being held on that Thursday, January 25th in-stead. That is also the day for the annual Sloppy Jo Feed and Book Fair, so they are planning on trying to tie that all together this year. Look for more in-formation in the bulletin for more details of the Sloppy Jo Feed, but mark it on your calendars now!!

Anniversary Prayer

Lord, we thank you for these couples and for all of the years that they have had together. As they

celebrate their anniversary, our prayer is that you will continue to bless them.

Let their testimony of love and forgiveness be a help to other couples as they start on their own journeys into married life. Lord, we pray that You will honor their commitment to each other and to You by granting them many more years

of happiness together.

Group crochets whimsical wigs for kids with cancer!

A new ministry is starting at Good Shepherd and was featured in the Echo Press on Dec. 6th. Laura Schiller , Sharein Berninghaus, Judy Krause and Heather and Tricia Manis are among the ladies involved in this ministry. Their mission? To make 100 “Happy Hair” wigs for children with cancer. And will be donating them to the Children’s Hospital in the Twin Cities.

The wigs are patterned after Disney and other characters. They begin with a crocheted beanie and then the yarn hair is added by using a latch hook or crochet needle.

THE GATE

I said to the man who stood at the gate of the new year,

“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”

And he relied, “Go into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of

God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way!

Chicken Pot Pie INGREDIENTS 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cubed 1 cup sliced carrots 1 cup frozen green peas 1/2 cup sliced celery 1/3 cup butter 1/3 cup chopped onion 1/3 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 teaspoon celery seed 1 3/4 cups chicken broth 2/3 cup milk 2 (9 inch) unbaked pie crusts DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees

2. In a saucepan, combine chicken, carrots,

peas, and celery. Add water to cover and boil for 15 minutes. Remove from heat, drain and set aside.

3. In the saucepan over medium heat, cook

4. Place the chicken mixture in bottom pie crust.

Pour hot liquid mixture over. Cover with top crust, seal edges, and cut away excess dough. Make several small slits in the top to allow steam to escape. 5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Bacon & Macaroni and Cheese

Make classic mac and cheese even easier with

your slow-cooker — and even tastier with

the addition of bacon

INGREDIENTS

1 pound pasta shells .

1 10.75-ounce can condensed Cheddar cheese soup

2 cups whole milk

2 12-ounce cans evaporated milk

2 tablespoons butter, melted

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon mustard powder

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded Monterey jack cheese

2 garlic cloves, minced

12 slices cooked bacon, chopped and divided

Sliced scallions, for garnish (optional) PREPARATION

Spray a 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Add

the pasta shells.

In a large bowl, whisk together the condensed Ched-

dar cheese soup, whole milk, evaporated milk, melted

Monterey jack, garlic and half the cooked bacon.

Carefully pour the cheese mixture over the pasta and

gently stir until all the pasta is coated.

Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes. Reduce the

heat to low and cook for another 2 1/2 hours.

Stir in the reserved cooked bacon and serve

garnished with sliced scallions if desired.
