The universality of Karate and the sporting spirit of our
competitions will be once again showcased in a big event of our
sport as the city of Antalya in Turkey is hosting the 27th
Mediterranean Cadet, Junior and U21 Championships.
Not only Karate fans in the Mediterranean countries will have the opportunity to demonstrate the impact of the sport among their young competitors; we will also state the progress of our discipline in a tournament that is set to continue raising the profile of our ancient modality. The Mediterranean Karate Federation Union with its president Bechir Cherif at the helms of the organisation has always played an essential role in the promotion of our sport in the region around the Mediterranean Sea. Moreover, the event is hosted in Turkey, a country which under the leadership of the president of the Turkish Karate Federation Esat Delihasan has always welcomed magnificent Karate events. I am sure that the young karatekas participating in the tournament will find the best conditions to show all their abilities. With their enthusiasm, and with the great level of organisation of the competition, I am convinced that the 27th Mediterranean Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships will be a great success. Antonio Espinós WKF President World Karate Federation

Karatekas across the Mediterranean are expecting with great
encouragement the next 27th Mediterranean Karate
Federations Union Championships to be held in Antalya Turkey
6-7 April 2019.
The Turkish karate federation has become in the last years an
outstanding member not only of the Mediterranean karate
federations union, but also of the World Karate Federation,
with a great number of organizing official WKF events. In this respect I trustworthy expect an
excellent planning, organizing, leading and controlling of the 27th Championship by the Turkish
karate federation and especially by president Esat Delihasan who’s a true karate leader.
Through this stage and with complete admiration to the personality, I take the stand to
express my explicit gratefulness to president of WKF Antonio Espinos who’s guidance, hard
and smart work has proven to worth of “gold” for karate since the greatest achievement ever
in karate has proven to be the accession of karate into Olympics and thus during his
administration. President of WKF Antonio Espinos outstanding effort and continuous
enrichment of the MKFU has added such value to our organization and championships.
In closing, I take the stand to welcome you all in the beautiful city of Antalya and I’m convinced
that this championship will be precious with great chances for all athletes to grasp higher
standards through fail play and through the Olympic ideals. Let us all enjoy a unique
championship in Antalya!

Antalya, city on the Mediterranean coast of south-western Turkey, is the Turkish capital of international tourism.
Situated by the Gulf of Antalya, the city of Antalya can be traced back in history as early as the 1st century BC when, as the legend has it, upon discovering this land, king Attalos II told his men that “this must be Heaven”. Today, tourists who come here from all the corners of the world say that only after seeing a sunset at Antalya can one say they have seen everything a man is allowed to see in a lifetime.
The city of Antalya seems to have taken in all of Turkey’s cultural and historic past so well preserved and sealed by the traditional archaeology of the mosques, churches, madrasahs and hamams which stood the ruthless test of time.
The historical part of the city, Kaleiçi, is also the tourist centre of Antalya: clubs, restaurants and bars are the edifices that the modern tourist world has raised next to the Yivli
Minare, a symbol of the restored historical city centre and to the Kesik Minare, a former Byzantine Pangalia church, later converted into a mosque.
Despite Antalya’s growing popularity among tourists, the main transportation here is by air, although sea and land routes have only recently been taken into consideration. However, of late, the International Antalya Airport has opened a new terminal to face the hustle and bustle of the ever increasing numbers of international tourists.

The whole urbanized Antalya transportation system makes it easy for its tourists to move from one place to another and visit all the sights they want, while still preserving their energy for the grand tour of restaurants and bars.
