Ottawa Resident Distributes Free Bike Lights to Night Time Cyclists In An Effort to Promote Cycling Safety

With over 1,000 bicycle lights distributed last year, Ottawa resident Phillipe Dessaint-Ash will be handing out another round of bike lights to night time riders in respect of his Bike Brite Ottawa Project. The project is funded from his own pocket along with public relations support from the Safer Roads Initiative.

Dessaint-Ash’s project has taken on added significance since police in Ottawa recently confirmed that they would be increasing checks with cyclists to ensure that they are being safe on the road and using proper equipment such as bike lights. These checks will be part of a month-long focus on cycling safety for the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.
