Date: 08 August 2012To: The Xavier School Community

From: The School DirectorSubject: Some Important Announcements

    __________________________________________________________________________________

After conferring with our administrators, I have decided to suspend classes until August 10 (Friday) tofocus on the on-campus relief operations currently being organized, as well as to provide some time for

those in our community who have been affected by this catastrophe to recover. Based on our initialassessments, the damage wrought by these past days heavy downpour has been extensive, and the needs

of our people great. It is important that we exert our best effort as a community to provide whateverassistance we can.

The class suspension will, however, have some implications on our students and teachers, particularly, the

need to hold make-up classes and possibly to make some changes with regard to the First Quarter exams.Dates and other details will be announced later.

For our Grades 7 and 8 students: With the approval of the SEAB (Singapore Education Assessment

Board), we are postponing our Grade 8 students iPSLE (International Primary School Leaving Exams) toAugust 14, 15, 16, and 17 (Tuesday to Friday next week). The administration of the OLSAT-MAT to our7th graders will likewise be postponed (date to be determined in coordination with the Philippine

    Psychological Corporation).

We are beginning our Student Council-led CALL OF DUTY Relief Ops this afternoon at 1 pm, August8. You may drop off donated goods at the Angelo King Multi-Purpose Center through Gate 1. Please

watch out for announcements on the schools Facebook page, Twitter, as well as our school web site. Wecall on all members of the Xavier community to once again take part in this effort, as we did in 2010

following the onslaught of Typhoon Ondoy.

Moreover, our students are encouraged to share their thoughts about this calamity through an ONLINEREFLECTION SITE that will be set up within the day. Teachers and mentors will give feedback to the

students reflections, and these online exchanges will hopefully serve as springboard for follow-upclassroom discussions next week.

We call on every member of the Xavier School Community (students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff)

    to SHARE in four ways:

    (a) SHARE information about those who need assistance,(b) SHARE your resources and time in support of our relief operations,

    (c) SHARE your thoughts and reflections about through our online reflection site, and finally,(d) SHARE our concern for one another through our continued prayers especially for those who

    have suffered the most.

Thank you very much. Let us pray for those who most need our prayers and support at this time.
