The Task
� Late 2008 the chance arose to acquire a large Travel Booklet project forlarge german tourism company
� All customers receive a travel Booklet including all travel data, vouchers, tickets, information about the destination and advertisments.
� Within the same project, the production of an invoice document was crucial. Without the invoice FTI cannot collect payments of their debitors(the traveller)
� Project itself existed already.� Customer was forced to search for a new service provider
� Task had to be done in an extremely short period of time

The Task - Description
� Invoice document
� Data comes directly from customersystem
� Multiple .txt files are generated bycustomer which are the basis for thecontent
� Terms of service vary, depending on company or brand.
� Each document has to have a paymentsheet added to the main document (also including variable data)
� Output has to be printed (full color) and also send by eMail
� Number of pages is uncertain

The Task - Description
� Travel Booklet� Up to 3.000 multipaged documents each day (mostlydepending on season)
� Data comes from a local MySQL Database
� Thousands of assets
� Travel Voucher
� Almost unlimited combinations and variables
� Complex PDF Workflow and finishing due to uncertain number of document pages
� Booklet has to be indexed on an internal Webpage. Each booklet has to be found in the Database as PDF file (for customer service, internal controlling oraudits)

Keep in Mind
� The main tasks was to recreate a workflow which initially took 9 Month of developement! In 4 Weeks…
� We needed:� A very strong asset system (lots of them)
� An extremely flexible solution (we need to fit the solution to our needs in short time)
� Easy document design (no time for complicated developement)
� Seamless integration
� Team based developement
� Beeing able to develop the way we want, even if that means that the software has to adapt.
� In other words:� XMPie Personal Effect!

*we could have connected directly to the sql usingXMPie‘s uPlan. At that time however, the DB had to rebuild fromscratch, meaning that we did not have the time to
wait. we had to deal with it by converting the datainto a CSV. The process is still used today because there isno real need to change it right now.
