Xingchen Liu was a Business Intern for our organization, INVISIBLE RIVER from September 19 th – March 25 th , 2016 working 20 hours a week on site at our performance events and in our office. Xingchen worked on a range of projects during her six-month internship. She had a particular interest in learning about the organization’s financial background, and during her tenure, performed bookkeeping for the organization, learning two new software programs to do so, and collaborating with myself and our the Co-Finance Chair of our Board of Directors. Additionally, she assisted our Board Treasurer and myself, with gathering documents for our organization’s first financial review. Xingchen is highly detailed oriented, very efficient and quite adept at organizing financial information, and excelled at this work for our organization. Xingchen also tackled leadership projects such as organizing our company’s move to a new office in February 2016, purchasing furniture for the new office, setting up the transfer of utilities, communicating with the landlord, and organizing and managing volunteers who assisted us in setting up the new office. She showed creative capacity in this endeavor and when problems arose she quickly found a solution to solve the problem. Day to day, Xingchen assisted us in the office with administrative duties in areas that range from marketing, fundraising, communications strategies, and office maintenance. She created company e-newsletters and managed our social media channels, providing our fans updates. During our year-end annual fundraising appeal, she organized a team of volunteers who collated our mailing to donors. Upon receiving the donations, she set up and organized our new donor management software, organized the information in this software, and managed donor communication, thanking all donors for their gifts.
