Cosmology   confronts   some  of   the  most   fundamental  quesAons   in  the  whole  of  science.  How  and  when  did  our  universe  begin?  What  is   it  made  of?  How  did   galaxies   and  other   structures   form?   Large  supercomputer  simulaAons   recreate   the  evoluAon  of   the  universe  and   provide   the   means   to   relate   processes   occurring   near   the  beginning   with   observaAons   of   the   universe   today.   A   coherent  picture   of   cosmic   evoluAon,   going   back   to   a   Any   fracAon   of   a  second   aqer   the   Big   Bang,   is   beginning   to   emerge.   However,  fundamental   issues,   like   the   idenAty   of   the   dark   maFer   and   the  nature  of  the  dark  energy,  remain  unresolved.

‘The road of our scientist in the UK: How can Mexico benefit from the

Mexican scientists abroad?’

This  panel  will  address  the  skilled  migraAon  of  Mexicans  in  the  UK.  In  recent   years,   the   paradigm   of   "loss"   of   human   capital   has   changed  towards  the  "circulaAon"  of  brains  worldwide.  Nowadays,  informaAon  and   communicaAon   technologies,   global   policies   and   scienAfic  networks   offer   new   possibiliAes   for   distant   collaboraAon.   Four  Mexican   scienAsts   from   different   fields   will   share   their   paths,  academic  experAse  and  some  ideas  for  establishing  links  with  Mexico  from  the  UK.

Neurobiology  of  Violence:  Can  violence  be  prevented  ?      Violent  behaviours  are  alarmingly   common   in  our   society  and  are  considered   a   public   health   problem.   They   range   from   domesAc  violence  to  street  crimes.  Some  of  the  quesAons  that  neuroscience  tries   to   answer   is   how   an   adapAve   behavior,   like   aggression,   can  turn   into  violent  behavior.  For  more  than  30  years,   I  have  studied  the   brain   and   in   the   past   years   I   have   studied   more   than   370  violent   criminal   offenders   in  Mexican   prisons   to   understand   how  violence   works.   Based   on   the   results   of   my   studies   one   of   my  quesAon  has  been  what  goes  wrong  and  how  can  we  raise  children  with  moral   integrity?   I  will   present   an  early   intervenAon  program  that  is  currently  applied  in  extreme  poverty  areas  all  over  Mexico.

Firstly,  Mexico  can  draw  lessons  from  the  biofuel  industry  experience  of  the  US  and  Brazil  that  so  far  have  accelerated  the  increase  in  food  prices  in  order  to   meet   biofuel   producAon   quotas.   Secondly,   Mexico   would   be   able   to  establish  comprehensive  biofuel   laws  that  will  abate   the  main  policy   issues  that   have   caused   escalaAng   food   commodity   prices   and   land   reconversion  causing   unnecessary   deforestaAon   and   eliminaAng   other   important   food  producAon.

In  Mexico,  unfortunately  there  is  a  lack  of  value  for  our  Fashion  brands  and  fashion  designers.  In  many   occasions   the   costumers   tend   to  negoAate   the   price   for   a   good  Mexican   clothe  made   by   hand   affecAng   the   designers’   profits  and  our  economy.  As  a  result,  I  decided  to  study  MA  Fashion  MarkeAng   in   the  UK  and   focus  my  research  and  studies  in  Fashion  sustainable  and  digital   strategies   for   creaAng   value   to  Mexican  fashion   brands   and   designers.   These   strategies  can   serve,  boost  and   support  businessmen  and  new   young   designers.   AddiAonally,   they   could  encourage  the  employment  rates  of  Mexico.

Recent statistics show that Mexico has become a hackers’ playground. Cases such as Banorte and Liverpool clients’ personal information theft are indicators that information security professionals need to take a more proactive and defensive approach towards cyber security. Through my experience and research, I would like to undertake a step to improve policies that help regulate how this issues are approached towards a more effective risk management perspective while understanding criminal behaviour to be able to provide countermeasures, awareness, and incident response in order to build more resilient industry and critical infrastructures standards that can lead to improvement of national security.   Leslie Anzures University of Southampton

I   could   improve   the   way   how   enAAes  (public   or   private   sector)   are   releasing  informaAon.   For   instance,   think   the  possibility   to   link   and   extract   data   from  INEGI ,   IMSS ,   SEDESOL   and   other  governmental   enAAes   in   order   to   create  queries   that   return   data   that   could   be  useful   for   public   policy,   research   or  entrepreneurial   purposes.   This   is   referred  as  a  Big  Data  for  social  sciences.
