Need for Biometric Biometric can be used in various areas that required accurate identification of an
individual.
Typical application include border security, online education providers, sensitive
facilities such as R&D laboratories.

Unimodal Vs Multimodal Typical biometric system uses single form of biometric to authenticate an individual.
These unimodal system uses either facial or speech or fingerprint, just one of the many
biometric signature an individual might have.
It increases risk of an ill intended individual coming out ways to evade accurate
authentication.
Multimodal uses 2 or more sensors, working together, to reduces possibilities of
evading and complimenting limitations of individual sensor working alone.

Unimodal Vs Multimodal Advantages:-
More difficult for subject to spoof system as there are various sensors being used.
Ability to fuse both biometrics and non-biometrics sensors for both identification and
abnormalities detection.
High level of data confidence.
System can be calibrated to meet various operating environment.

Disadvantages:-
Relatively higher cost of implementation due to usage of multiple sensors.
Takes longer time for calibration and profiling prior to operational usage.
Customisation due to the need to access existing database and MSP database.
