Using the fusion of nature, the fabrics and an accumulated genre of styles creates couture with an individuality of its own. The name in itself comes from a bit of a humourous background. If you’ve ever been driving through the countryside of Jamaica You would have surely seen the sign indicating the crossing of a railway as an X and “ing”. Using a play on words the name Xing was born. Jehan Wanliss AKA Toni Xing a tomboy at heart discovered her love for creating apparel in her more mature teenage years after being offered a modelling opportunity. One which she soon found out was not her passion as she preferred creating the pieces for the models than being one of the models. Before purchasing fabric she played around with pieces of her own clothing which for reasons of size colour or too much femininity did not suite her. That offered her experimenting with different colours, textures and shapes. Further experimentation was afforded to her after working with Racquel Jenkins Moss-Solomon of Racquel J. Makeup Studio (Formerly Permanent Cosmetics Studio and Boutique). the mastermind behind the all things beauty; where she received her training in makeup artistry and worked professionally on shows like Caribbean Fashion Week 2010, Caribbean Fashion Week 2012, and Mission Catwalk 2012. After two Years of Makeup artistry with The Racquel J. Makeup Studio she moved on to developing and Honing her craft as a Fashion Designer through self taught methods of Practise; and officially started XDC in February of 2013.
