What is Xbox LIVE?Xbox LIVE brings an unbeatable entertainment experience to the Xbox 360 console. Connect with friends, download and play games, and access a huge library of games and music in an instant.Learn more about Xbox LIVE.

Wired connectionA wired network connection is a fast and reliable way to connect to Xbox LIVE. For a wired connection, you use a network cable to connect the Xbox 360 console to a router or modem. Here is what you need:•An Xbox 360 console•A router, gateway, or modem that is compatible with Xbox LIVE•A network cable•A high-speed Internet connection such as cable or DSL

Note Satellite and 3G or 4G mobile connections are not recommended because you are likely to experience slow performance or lag.

1.Plug one end of a network cable into a port on the router or gateway. You might need a long network cable, depending upon on the location of the router or modem.

Note If you do not have a router, you can plug the network cable directly into the modem.

2.Plug the other end of the network cable into the back of the console.

Connect to the Internet 

Router connectionthe Xbox 360 console and computer are both connected to a router. The router is connected to a modem, which is connected to a cable wall jack.

Test the connection

Now that the console is connected to the Internet, test the connection to Xbox LIVE.

The steps for testing the connection vary slightly, depending on the console software.

1.On the console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings. 2.Select Network Settings. 3.Select Wired Network. 4.Select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.Once you successfully connect to Xbox LIVE, the screen looks like this:

How to reset the network settings

Reset the network settings on the Xbox 360 console to the defaults. Here's how:1. On the console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.

2. Select Network Settings.

3. Select Configure Network.

Move right on the D-pad to access the Additional Settings tab and select Restore to Factory Defaults. Select Yes, restore to factory defaults when prompted.

Note This will only reset the network settings and not other console settings.

1.Restart the console.

2.Go back to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.

3.Select Network Settings.

4.Select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.
