SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESEARCH TO ICT INDUSTRY AND COMMUNITY:

As the GPS based vehicle tracking and monitoring solutions become one of the essential services around the world, and recently in the Egyptian market; so introduce new GPS based vehicle tracking and monitoring solutions will have a good response in the market, educating the market about how the tracking and monitoring solutions would affect and improve their business. Systems are very popular with people in the transportation business. It is a good way for fleet owners to keep an eye on their vehicles and track their movements and ensure that there is no misuse on the parts of the drivers.

HOW YOUR PROJECT IS INNOVATED:

Our GPS based Real Time Fleet Telematics system can give you specific information about the vehicle's current location and about its previous locations and the overall mileage. It informs you about the vehicle's speed, you are alerted if the vehicle exceeds the legal speed limit and about the various stops the vehicle makes. You receive alerts about whether the oil needs to be changed. You can remote control the vehicle's door locks, lights and various other electronic devices. You can send SMS, have a two way communication with the drivers and inform them about the routes to be taken and so on. If you want to pick up a delivery from a certain location, you can track your vehicle nearest to the area and dispatch them over without loss of time.

The GPS based Fleet Telematics Locater Device also allows you to remotely turn on or turn off the ignition. Give you information about the internal car component status for diagnosis

BACKGROUND:

THE SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM IN GENERAL:

There are annually over 22,400 traffic accidents within the Egypt, causing 3,500 traffic deaths and close to 18,900 injuries. Our target is to reduce the number of road death by 30 percent by 2011. So we are developing our Car Telematic system (In vehicle emergency call system, Vehicle tracking system, monitoring of vehicle health and remote diagnostics). The objective is to facilitate the development and use of IT based intelligent safety systems, in order to reduce the number of dead and injured in traffic.

OUR ADDRESSED SYSTEM:

Our addressed system is called Fleet Telematics System (FTS) for companies or Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) for individuals.

FLEET TELEMATICS SYSTEM:

Fleet Telematics System (FTS) is the management of a company's vehicle fleet. Fleet telematics includes commercial motor vehicles such as cars, vans and trucks. Fleet (vehicle) management can include a range of functions, such as vehicle financing, vehicle maintenance, vehicle telematics (tracking and diagnostics), driver management, fuel management and health & safety management. Fleet telematics is a function which allows companies which rely on transportation in their business to remove or minimize the risks associated with vehicle investment, improving efficiency, productivity and reducing their overall transportation costs, providing. These functions can be dealt with by either an in-house fleet-management department or an outsourced fleet-management provider.

8 GPS-Based Fleet Telematics System (FTS)

THE SYSTEM INCLUDES:

1. GPS VEHICLE TRACKING SYSTEM:

The most basic function in all fleet telematics systems is the vehicle tracking component. This component is usually GPS based, but sometimes it can be based on a Cellular triangulation platform. Once vehicle location, direction and speed are determined from the GPS components, and then transmit this information to a Fleet Management software application using mobile cellular networks.

2. MECHANICAL REMOTE DIAGNOSTICS:

Advanced fleet telematics systems can connect to the vehicle's onboard computer, and gather data for the user. Details such as mileage and fuel consumption are gathered into a global statistics scheme using On-Board Diagnostic systems (OBD).

3. DRIVER BEHAVIOR:

By combining received data from the Vehicle Tracking system and the onboard computer, it is possible to form a profile for any given driver.

4. FLEET SECURITY AND CONTROL:

9 GPS-Based Fleet Telematics System (FTS)

Fleet Security and Control includes security of the vehicle while stopped or not in operation and the ability to safely disable a vehicle while in operation. This allows the fleet manager to recover stolen or rogue.

5. Remote Vehicle Disabling Systems:

Remote vehicle disabling systems provide authorized users at remote locations the ability to prevent an engine from starting, prevent movement of a vehicle, and to stop or slow an operating vehicle. Remote disabling allows a dispatcher or other authorized personnel to gradually decelerate a vehicle by downshifting, limiting the throttle capability, or bleeding air from the braking system from a remote location.

6. In vehicle emergency call system:

Automatically calling emergency services in case you have an accident by pressing a panic button.

7. Auto insurance: Pay as you drive theory.8. Remote monitoring of vehicle health.9. Temperature, pressure, fuel level sensor.

HOW WILL A GPS-BASED FLEET TELEMATICS SYSTEM IMPROVE YOUR BUSINESS?

If you're the owner or manager of multiple vehicles and Want to know the importance of GPS-based fleet telematics system for your business ,it is in the following points:
